'Shoot me down', Gunasegaram told

Journalist-blogger James Wong Wing On has this challenge for Nexnews/The Edge/theSun group executive editor, titled: Mr. Gunasegaram, please shoot me down now:

As a public critic of some of Dr. Mahathir's policies and measures such as Operation Lalang and closure of newspapers in 1987-1988 (check this up with Kit Siang or his son) and his persecution of Anwar Ibrahim in 1998-2004 (check this up with Kak Wan), I really can' t remember there was a P. Gunasegaram in the camp of Tun's critics in the public domain.

But, after Tun is no more in power, P. Gunasegaram has suddenly - hey presto!- become one of the most vocal anti-Mahathir 'hero'. Well, I may be wrong in my recollection (and, unfortunately, I am unable to read Tamil newspapers). Prove me wrong and shoot me down then.

Read the blog here. Journalists should know how fellow journalists behave better than we bloggers.

From blogger K Temoc: "Somebody, please shoot this Jeff Ooi for good"?

And, by the way, Aisehman is back after he declared a hiatus that lasted 5 days.

Jeff,

I suggest you change your blog name to Screen.no.shot to avoid being acused of inciting people.

Sigh... when I said f..k, it really means f..k meh!

The Multimedia Act - boy oh boy, that is life, it staples our arses to the ground. It should be brought to mind that the 'Pen is mightier than the Sword or the Whip'. Let us humble human beings speak our mind as we do realise when limits are being crossed. And when we do cross limits I am sure there are other bloggers who do point that out. And all because of this twit Gunasegaram who wet his pants because someone said 's...t him' down - Alamak! And this same joker is an EDITOR - what kind of d..kheads are becoming 'journalists'!

who's number is this?

Aiya, go off for just a few days and so many things happen. Only in Malaysia.

Anyway, Gunasegaran's criticism of Mahathir can have credibility if only he can show how consistent he has been from the time Mahathir became Prime Minister, with his critricism.

Maybe some one in the know can please tell me if during mahathir's era this Gunasegaran was also then [ DELETED ]

Now Guna, please don't try to be clever and suggest for one moment that you don't know what those terms really mean ok.

And oh, btw, since I suppose you were a journalist at least during some of those times when "shoot" was used by our PMs or Deputy PM's or Politicians of the day that you did indeed take similar exception to what you are taking now when used by some one who is clearly not a wordsmith like you. Had you then maintained an elegant silence, then my friend, you might just be the worlds biggest [ DELETED ] for now choosing to be an [ DELETED ] when you need not to.

But can I suggest that all that Guna is doing is just blowing along with the wind. After all today its game to criticise. Tomorrow if indeed Mahathir does come back to power, I am sure Guna will be standing first in line to [ DELETED ] again. What else can you expect of Malaysian journalists? I understand you guys need to survive.

And Guna this is just my opinion o.k.

Guna,

A challenge to you.

I earned the right to criticise Mahathir as I had criticised him even when he was the Prime Minister. I did not have to wait for him to step down and wait for the day when Mahathir becomes game for open criticism. And I criticised him in the same way and same fashion that I am writing now this post.

Show me that you had also criticised Mahathir then in the manner that you do so today? Nothing that you criticised him on was not known at the time it happened. It was known then.

All your criticisms unfortunately goes down the tube with you because obviously you have chosen to become deaf on the Bowmen Report which provides evidence that your boss's lawyer, one V.K. Lingam went on a holiday with the Chief Justice of that time, Eusoff Chin. My friend, the day your fxxxing newspaper finds the balls to print it, you put your name next the the next article you write la. Until then, please don't shame the community.

I think Jeff, you should use delphi forum's format for screenshots whereby posted comments may be edited later in case of error by the writer.
To be fair, Guna was critical of mahathir's policies even when the old man was still around. In fact, the edge was the only paper that questioned some policies openly, hence my subscription.

oh ya, i must be careful when using the sentence 'tembak aje'

also...

"Which person did u hand that paper to?"

"I duno, I tembak aje"

The Sun seems to mind others’ language and point its fingers and took offence to the word “shoot “ - as incitement to kill. But when the fingers point back at them brandishing a “gun”, the meaning is obvious.

Are these words “ ..unless you put a gun to the heads of many of those in power, nothing will move” more threatening or literally taken with a pinch of salt?
An inciment to kill? Will those in power file a complaint and to whom?

Wow I just read Nadeswaran's article referred to by mwt. I was just pondering over becoming a politician and become the power that be. Now that lust for power has been vanguished. That threat is so real and I wonder if I can sleep tonight. Just imagine a respectable paper like The Sun threatening to have a gun to my head when i came to power. Boy, am I scared or what? Sheesh....so much for my ambition!

this [ DELETED ] Guna guy sure is sensitive. say one thing wrong and he ll be jumping like someone shoved a [ DELETED ] . like so many others said before me... what you say (or in this case, type) is not what you really mean. how many times a day you ask your friend to "go [ DELETED ] themselves"? did any of our friends really did it?

well [ DELETED ] Guna... go [ DELETED ] yourself... it ll be rather inTeresting and intriguing to watch you really trying to do it...

p/s if you should somehow manage to do it, go and see rais yatim. there must be some sort of artistic value to it.

Nades's was merely playing the wordplay game. i don't see the need for anyone to get excited here, just like guna did. calm down folks. "gun to the head" is widely used and very diffrerent from kadir's quote Jeff highlighted. here we are calling guna [ DELETED ] (and bloody rightly so) and now we're picking on words. James Wong is travelling down the right path, though. calling out the current day "heroes" for being bum lickers in the ruling days of the Tun. you know, we should have that record in our guiness malaysia record book or whatever the damn thing is called. we could have:-

1. most number of [ DELETED ] licked
or
2. highest in terms of area of [ DELETED ] licked in a career/lifetime (in square centimeters, please)

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
