TM Net has graciously agreed to provide logistics support, and pick up the hotel bill with refreshment thrown in.

We hope to have a free-flow of customer feedback and ideas, and later, to structure them into sustainable forum with the setting up of a Streamyx User Group for the Klang Valley among the attendees. This User Group will meet regularly besides managing a Streamyx User Group website set up for the sole purpose of user interaction.

This a big move forward since the bloggers first met with Michael and his senior management team in USJ on the Merdeka eve last year (picture above).
The draft statement of purpose for the setting up of the Streamyx User Group is available here.
I will try to email to those who have pre-registered via this weblog in May to alert them of the forth coming meeting. Please also feel free to forward this blog entry to as many of your friends as possible. Even those who didn't pre-registewr themselves are welcome to the event.

SIG Sabah already had its 4th meeting to date. So far so good. Except the registration with ROS part is still quite vague.

Great efforts in moving this forward, Jeff.
I would try to make it there though no guarantee. Need to ask them about service availability vis-a-vis server uptime and degradation issues.

Wow.. I'd love to be there, but alas, I have exams on that time.
Can someone bring up the latency issue? Why traceroute to other countries reveal that the latency is so high on certain IPs (60.48.xxx.xxx 219.95.xxx.xxx 60.50.xxx.xxx) while IP such as 218.111.xxx.xxx has got low latency? When will they fix it?

Yah I get a constant 640ms ping now..
I can hardly play games, when I get 60.49.xx I get a 350ms ping but 35% dropped packets.
Sometimes it rockets to 1200ms, but when I ping local IP addresses it's 45ms as it should be.
There is nothing wrong with the infrastructure as such, just a horrible overloading of the International links.
Really makes me miss my UK connection.
JEFF OOI says: Friend, please come.

back in long long time ago, when tmnet first startup, the tmnet newsgroup was "suppose" the channel that let tmnet listen to subscribers and to help troubleshoot user problem, and also a channel of user help user. Look at the tmnet newsgroup (community/support/streamyx etc) now, anyone seen any single reply from tmnet personal ? Now in steed of newsgroup, its transform to portal lah, blog lah, usergroup website lah, i hope with this move, tmnet will really listen to the usergroup, because the newsgroup was up more than 10 yrs till today, tmnet dont care abt putting some personal/efford to respond/help for more than 10 yrs, lets hope this will not happen to the usergroup, but whats the different between newsgroup and usergroup ? Bottomline is nothing will improve until tmnet start listen and act to it, otherwise usergroup will be just like another tmnet newsgroup, same sh*t, different bowl.

btw, do you think it's a good idea to bring up stuff Internet Exchange Points http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Exchange_Point
(local peering points) to improve quality.
Also, maybe to ask about the Asia Internet Exchange Network Access Point Malaysia (ARIX)
& the Kuala Lumpur Internet Exchange that Malaysia said wanted to set up few years (2003) back as there seems to be no update about it since then.
Don't believe me? Go google the info...
or if u have more info or feedback, please post a reply here. Thanks!
