Ku Li, the veteran, speaks
Tengku Razaleigh, now 69, says Dr Mahathir “is a special member of Umno who was not forced out of office but voluntarily gave it up”.
As such, "Pak Lah (Abdullah) as somebody who took over from him (Mahathir), should jump into a car and drive over to him, (and) talk to him.”
Quote from his exclusive interview with Malaysiakini
“Why not? He is the ex-president of Umno for 22 years. This Umno was created by him - the old Umno was declared unlawful and de-registered,” he pointed out. [...]
“Why be so afraid? There’s nothing to hide. Let’s come clean, give him the forum, he is not going to be prime minister again,” he repeatedly stressed.
Ku Li also touched on the crooked bridge issue, which Abdullah did not address at all during the Interview with Annuar Zaini. Quote:
Do you think he has an agenda beyond all this?
I don’t think he wants to be prime minister or Umno president again. My reading is that (Mahathir thinks) Abdullah is not the right choice. Secondly, Mahathir feels Abdullah is not using the office of the prime minister - with all the powers (it has) - and instead allow other people to manipulate it. That’s the impression that I get.
That’s why the bridge project is ‘start, go, no’. At first, Abdullah said ‘okay’, we proceed with this, we would continue with what Mahathir has started. That’s what he said after he took over and he even went to lay the foundation stone of the bridge and in that function he announced no matter what happened, we would build the bridge. Why the about-turn? We MPs were told to support this bridge project in Parliament and suddenly we were told, ‘no, we are going to cancel it’ - the reason being the people are against this.
When did the people say this, we don’t know. Probably they have got a proper sounding, we don’t know, they are the government. Secondly, it’s about legal implications, (again) we don’t know. Mahathir is a little bit taken aback. But I suspect it is not just that, it’s maybe more.
Haven't I been asking the same question that Ku Li asked, about the flip-flop?

I would like to respect him as a real gentleman.

It's a good thing that Tun Dr. Mahathir is constantly bombarding and reminding us of the same questions our Government need to answer; something like what Citizen Nades @ theSun is doing. Tun is doing us a great favour!
Try going www.Youtube.com and "Search" keyword 'mahathir', and you'll find lots of TDM recent ceramah video clips.

It is splendid to view Ku Li’s stand on the issue. The Kelantan politician prince caused a stir in 2004 when he offered himself to be nominated for the UMNO president post, claiming it was to send a message to the grassroots that they had the right to contest any post, however high or ordinary the post.
As Raja Petra said in an article: One must remember, in politics there are no friends, only comrades of the same agenda; rakan seperjuang, as the Malays would say. Lawan jadi kawan, kawan jadi lawan, the Malays would also say (foe becomes friend, friend becomes foe).
Is an agenda in the making?

If the government want to be transparent, why fear of Tun questions?
Those issues raised by Tun are valid and so far no answer yet. [People would like to know for eg. why give thousands of AP to a guy who don't even have showrooms]
Pak Lah has given commitment to be more Open, Transparent and Accountable. Has that changed?
If changed, Pak Lah need to inform the rakyat, that "I am no longer interested to be Open, Transparent and Accountable"
With this then he can safely tell the Tun to fly kite on those issues Tun raised.
That will also solve Pak Lah problem to continously wasting effort to media spin, TV interviews. Of course this will hurt Kali & Brenda because they will be out of spinning jobs.

Thinking a little bit deeper,of course should AAB be forced out by this campaign, then the field is wide open,it is not like in Taiwam, where the vice-President Ms Lu would take over automaticaal should Ah Bai is forced to go.
Anwar,Najib, and even Ku Li are all possibilities.
I am waiting to see when is Anwar going to throw himself into the ring, because I simply do not believe that he is an angel,non-withstanding all his noble statements.
I frankly do not believe that Ku Li is an angel either, but time will tell, and I hope that I am wrong on this.
I would truly love to find a true gentleman among all our politicians!

I have read with interest the various comments posted in this blog. Politicians are politicians. They have their own agendas whether they are in or out of office. What we rakyat must be made to understand is simply what kind of agenda each of them has. Comments are said to reflect what they each has in mind at the time of the event. In this particular case, we have someone who has been in office for over 22 years and also the same person who picked the successor and now see fit to dumb him. To me, the biggest question is whether the successor has found what we have not been told of the follies of the last 22 years. The bug stops here and he does not want the march of follies to continue to the detriment of future Malaysians! What big holes have been discovered we do not know? This suffering of legacy syndrome is the sickness of all if not most retiring leaders because all along, the administration of this country has been carried in a black box operation. It is a pity that Pak Lah has to bear the brunt of these follies. As to whether Ku Li is a gentleman politician history will judge him. The point is every politician will always want to put the best foot forward for himself or for the country I doubt all all the crows under the sky are "black"!

Mahathir cool towards KL-S'pore bullet train plan
M'sian population not big enough for two train companies, he says
By PAULINE NG
IN KUALA LUMPUR
FORMER Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has poured cold water on the current administration's plan for a possible bullet train linking Kuala Lumpur to Singapore.
He said Malaysia did not have a big enough population to support two railway companies - one proposed by YTL Corp and the other, current national railway company Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM).
It is not the first time YTL has proposed a fast train to link the capitals of the two countries. Some eight years ago, YTL's proposal for a bullet train between both capitals was rejected by Dr Mahathir.
Recently, the power, infrastructure and property company floated the proposal again - but this time under PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's so-called private finance initiative.
Dr Mahathir, who is now on the warpath with Mr Abdullah, said he did not have the details, or whether the train would even go to Singapore. 'It was proposed during my time, but it was not yet suitable. Maybe now it is suitable.' Asked why the project was not implemented, he replied: 'There were problems. It's difficult to elaborate, lah.'
Mr Abdullah's administration, which wants to turn South Johor into a special economic zone, has been warmer to the high-speed train idea. The Transport Ministry has already given YTL the go-ahead for a feasibility study of the project, which if implemented would shorten the 325km journey to 90 minutes, compared to over six hours now.
While YTL has been the first to go public with its intention, Mr Abdullah said other companies have also expressed their interest in a similar plan and would be invited to submit their proposals as well.
Singapore's Ministry of Transport has said both governments have not held any discussions on YTL's proposal.
Critics of YTL's RM8 billion (S$3.4 billion) train initiative have already panned it as too costly, and harmful to the interests of various national companies such as Malaysia Airlines and toll road operator Plus. It would also likely spell the demise of KTM.
Dr Mahathir said Malaysia could have only one train firm. 'Well, you can't have two train services; you can have only one. Of course, in Japan, they have so many train services - but they have 130 million people.' Malaysia has 26 million people.
Dr Mahathir had approved a plan to double-track the national railway grid for a staggering RM14.5 billion prior to stepping down in 2003, but it was shelved by Mr Abdullah.
His reversal of Dr Mahathir's decision along with other policy U-turns - particularly the scrapping of the proposed bridge to replace the Causeway between Malaysia and Singapore - has greatly irked Dr Mahathir, who has labelled the present administration as 'gutless' and 'half-past-six'.
Dr Mahathir has intensified his attacks on his successor in recent weeks, accusing Mr Abdullah's son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin of being the real power behind the throne.
On Monday, Dr Mahathir indicated that Mr Abdullah should not complete his first term, which will expire by 2009. 'If we have a prime minister who sold the country, why wait for five years? We have to take early action. If he sold the country, there's no need to wait five years. We must not always say we support the prime minister.'

concur with ktak
yup; the high-speed train ticket wouldn't be cheap as well ...
for 90 mins of travelling time, it should cost more than the airport tax + air ticket to fly to singapore ...
eat-in and stay-in at Singapore won't be cheap for Malaysians, but it will probably draw more ppl from Singapore to here if they want to come to the land where they alleged has more incidents of violent crimes ...
like Disneyland, perhaps this plan should not go ahead ...
anyway, back from the side-tracking, Musa Hitam / Anwar / Tun-M's nemesis has been rather unfriendly ... Ku Li whom had been a nemesis of Tun M under Semangat 46 now says such intresting stuffs ... I though he is going to poison Tun M also ...
this is interesting stuff ... wonder what raja petra will comment on ???

Ku Li, at 69, could be a compromise choice to replace Pak Lah...
Najib could not be the replacement because it would look like Pak Lah's camp lost and TDM wins.
Anwar cannot be a replacement as he is outside UMNO at the moment.
The rest of the circus might be too weak to take the hot seat.
So, at 69, Ku Li has an outside chance to be PM...remember in politics, 69 is still very young....
Any takers?

PM Adullah has to move agaist Tun Mahathir. PM has been elected by Malaysians in record numbers in the last election. The people gave him the mandate. Who is Tun mahathir to campaign for his downfall? This clash between Mahathir and Abdulah is getting in the way of moving this country forward.
What about going to the people for a fresh mandate to silence the old man?
Read the following AP report tells me someone has to give. This just cannot go on and on.

Malaysia's Mahathir threatens to reveal evidence of government-linked corruption
By SEAN YOONG
Associated Press Writer
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said Wednesday he has proof of government-linked corruption that has been covered up in Malaysia - a claim that could undermine his successor's promise to wipe out graft.
Mahathir signaled that he was prepared to step up his attacks on Malaysia's current leader, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, by trying to assemble facts to prove his claim that Abdullah's policies have undercut national interests.
"There are several ... things which I will come out with, one at a time, (including) evidence of corruption," Mahathir told a news conference.
Mahathir's comments came after Abdullah - who is popularly known as "Mr. Clean" - assured Malaysians in an interview on national television Monday that he has never abused his power, stressing that any claims of corruption against him were "wild accusations."
Mahathir said he needed to gather sufficient evidence before he could go public with any cases of government-linked wrongdoing, which he claimed included suspicions of graft involving a former Cabinet minister that the state-run corruption watchdog failed to pursue.
"I'm trying," Mahathir said. "We must give hard evidence. ... I have some evidence, but whether you can report to the police and expect proper investigations or not is something else."
In recent months, Mahathir has repeatedly accused Abdullah of compromising public interests by scrapping big projects that Mahathir proposed and by giving undue influence to family members - especially Abdullah's son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin - in policy-making.
Abdullah denied on Monday that he had given preferential treatment in government contracts to his family, including his millionaire son, Kamaluddin Abdullah, who owns an oil-and-gas services firm and is among Malaysia's richest men.
Mahathir called that denial inadequate.
"All he was saying was that 'I'm a good man ... I'm a religious man, I wouldn't do this.' But specific answers, there were none," Mahathir said.
Claims of government corruption have festered for years. During Mahathir's rule, opposition leaders often alleged that he ignored bribes, kickbacks in government projects and favoritism.
Abdullah made the battle against graft one of his main agendas after he succeeded Mahathir, but critics complain that little progress has been achieved.
The months-old dispute between Mahathir and Abdullah has sparked fears of factional fighting among ruling party members torn in loyalty for Malaysia's two most respected political figures.
Separately Wednesday, a Malaysian businessman, Nik Sapeia Nik Yusoff, was charged in a magistrate's court in northeastern Kota Bahru town in connection with an attack on Mahathir on July 28, the national news agency Bernama reported.
Nik Sapeia was charged with firing a substance believed to be pepper spray from a can toward Mahathir, who had been preparing to address a crowd at an airport. He did not enter a plea. Trial was scheduled for Nov. 22, and he faces a maximum three-year jail sentence if convicted.
Mahathir recovered quickly from the incident and blamed it on people seeking to silence him.

If as some one suggested,AAB has found what we have not been told of the follies of the last 22 years, and he does not want the march of follies to continue to the detriment of future Malaysians!then as the PM with one of the biggest mandate ever awarded to him by the voters of Malaysia,he should have the courage to tell all,and not hiding behind the polite line that he does not wish to quarrel with his "Mentor"
If it is indeed the case, then AAB has failed in his duty as PM,and TDM is right in demanding that he be removed immediately.

I agree with you,Ku Li has a fair chance to have a go at the job he wanted but couldn't get.Now this is getting a little complicated, obviously Musa is the only one so far clearly on AAB side, but that was severl weeks ago,we have to wait for the latest report

yup DELL
agreed, but if u ask me, the problem with dear Pak Lah is that since his family members has indirectly burdened him and he has to come out to defend his SIL and son as well ... whomever having the TRUMP card now is not who can comes out first as to proving whom is more DIRTIER than the other ...
the ULTIMATE trump card for Tun M is something that AAB cannot GUESS ! ...
suspenz saja - muwahahahaha
anyway - AAB's yes men and Balai Riong + 4 th Floor better find a way to peep thru Tun M's trump card ... otherwise I will like to reckon that Tun M would be giving a KO to AAB anytime soon ...

then again maybe I will be wrong ... who knows - the greatest enemy of Tun M is not Pak Lah per se but his own weaknesses and past wrong doings ...
Ani Arope so far did only small magic show but did not go further ...
then tajuddin ramli ...
now new Proton management ...
but it didn't left any solid evidence pointing to Tun M ,,, if at all it points to is Tun M's cronies / pengikut setia ...

‘They will jail me if I talk more’: Dr M
Aug 9, 06 8:24pm
Ex-premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad today said that he had information about government corruption which if he revealed would land in jail.
- ‘Get rid of them’
- Corruption evidence
Mahathir threat to reveal graft
By Jonathan Kent
BBC correspondent in Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia's former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad says he plans to produce evidence of corruption against the current government.
It is the latest in a series of attacks by Dr Mahathir that some see as an attempt to undermine his hand-picked successor, Abdullah Badawi.
Dr Mahathir promised not to interfere when he retired three years ago.
But the partial dismantling of his legacy by the man he chose to succeed him seems to have proved too much.
Abdullah Badawi had already called back major contracts handed out by Dr Mahathir to his allies and eased the former prime minister out of an advisory position at Proton - the struggling national carmaker.
But his decision to cancel Dr Mahathir's controversial plans for a new bridge to Singapore appears to have been the final straw.
For months Mr Abdullah kept his council in the face of sustained attacks from his predecessor.
But this week, the prime minister broke his silence, denying charges of nepotism and claims that his son-in-law decided government policy.
Now Dr Mahathir is hinting that he will present proof of corruption within government.
If convincing evidence emerges, it could be a heavy blow for Mr Abdullah, who is widely seen as one of the cleanest politicians of his generation.
Dr Mahathir's critics accuse him of presiding over a collapse of standards in Malaysian public life during 22 years in power.

I am glad someone has suggestwed Ku Li to possibly lead the nation. I had been straining my grey matter, trying to dig up the Malaysians who are capable/suitable enough to lead the nation.
I could not be comfortable with Hisham & Najib.
Possibly Rafidah!
And now, there's good old Ku Li!
If only Syed Husin can also be persuaded and allowed [by the BN powers-that-be]to be a Cabinet Minister!
If only all three can in short order form a team with current PM Pak Lah, I think much good can come about.

Ku Li ???
wah ... why didn't former PM made him a the firstchoice ???
but he is already 69 ...
the fact is even if he is elected, he will only stand not more than 10 years ...
have both Tun and Ku Li mended their differences ?
Will Tun ever complain again should Ku Li failed to perform ?

But the ACTUAL reasons are explained by Chartered Civil Engineer Y Y KOON on the Technical hitches that "sink" the crooked scenic bridge.

Guys,do not complaint,TDM is getting real serious.
In't he a real look a like of the corruption buster I saw in Hollywood?
No doubt I want TDM to come clean on what happened during his 22 years, but for now,it is good that he is really seriously forcing our AAB,the self-proclaimed CLEAN guy to be clean.

This country is not some kind of kingdom whereby dictators can pick and choose successors at their whims and fancy.
Mahathir has a right to speak, but has not shown any facts to base his allegations on. He nags. My personal feeling is that a crony of mahathir is behind all these complaints. why, because some of them were asked to buy failed government agencies that were losing millions at a high price with the hope of getting lucrative government contracts to alleviate their purchase. This has promise of lucrative contracts was not followed by Pak Lah. So these people are now in a limbo.

Could it be that the minister who TM is referring to as previously investigated by ACA is none other than our current PM himself? That would be the ultimate get-out-of jail card that TM's been holding since he stepped down, as a way to make sure that his legacy in untouched. Why select AAB otherwise? AAB set himself up nicely for a trap by going on national TV and reaffirming his clean image. Now TM is going to spring that trap..and go for the jugular...
