Kasi kuah banjir

You don't have to re-define gravy train. Passengers on Umno Express can now have their limitless supply of roti koyak, with kuah banjir taruh di atas.

And Penang Chief Minister Koh Tsu Koon is getting it all at the other end, preparing the tongkat for people who fan good satay fire.

First, rotate the Chief Minister's post.

Second, let Penang Umno Youth go ahead with the proposal of bumiputra consortium to work with Sime Darby Group to develop the Northern Corridor.

Now, Tsu Koon must 'return' the chairmanship of profit-making Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang to Umno within three days, says the Bukit Mertajam division.

What next? Privatising the Prime Minister's Office? Mahathir has apparently caused someone to hedge the future.

Look out for the Budget Speech this Friday, from the Prime Minister of all Malaysians.

Let them have it, no point holding on to whatever they envy. If giving the state chief ministership and chairman of profit making corporation can upgrade the status of average bumiputeras in Penang, let them have it, the bumis want it easy, let them have it easy, afterall, after decades of spoonfeeding they are incapable of standing on their own. The bumis forgot that Penang is very much a private driven economy, no natural resources nor very little government handouts, so unless one is willing to work hard, it is very difficult for anyone to succeed. Better still, let the SIL becomes the Chief Minister of Penang and see if he can upgrade the bumiputera status in Penang

Anyone realize that Umno didn't even make any noise about "membantu orang Melayu" in Penang until recently when the PM office approval of few mult$ m$ll$on ringgit project in Penang under 9MP?

Senator Datuk Musa, how about accepting my challenge to forbid all Umno related parties (son-in-laws, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunties, cousins, friends, business partners, etc) not originated and currently permanently settle in Penang from taking any form of contracts or projects originated from 9MP? That include involvement in contract tender approval process and any form of share holding because I am sure that Bank Negara can provide all the funds the project needs.

What is the point talking about helping local Malays when the project is hold by non-local Malays (to Penang) and the money flow out of the state? Don't give me bull crap about hiring local Malays as part of the benefit. Anyone hold the project can do the same. And one more thing, you guys shouldn't hire Indonesian/Bangladeshi workers because they are cheaper, but this will seriously erode your prof$t marg$n.

Talk is cheap, walk your talk!

KTK, please fight for the good of Penang. Do not give in to their demands just like that. You must think of a way out. Think, think, think.

Worst thing that can happen is to cancel the second bridge and monorail. Status quo.

You can still be a better chief minister than Dr. Lim Chong Eu if you manage to ride this storm.

Penang malays are mostly descendants from indian subcontinent/middle east who embraced malay culture. The only malay areas are the ones on the other side of the island facing the sea, and the south where you can get good mee rebus with prawns. Part of the reason why Penang state wanted to have the bridge in the south is to develope the southern malay area (I may be wrong)surrounding the airport. If sime darby were to subcontract the work to penang malays, the only investment and expeience they have is applying for JKR 'A' license. They will then demand hefty commissions/marketing fee for getting the contract from the "real contractors". Any profit they make will go to germany/Japan, the maker of luxury motorcars or London, the prefered tourist destination for the elites. very little trickle down to the poor malay masses.

Well, it can only come from Utusan...

The vultures want everything that makes money.. Penang is one state that sells the cheapest water in the whole of Malaysia and yet make money of it. Speaks alot for its management eh? Give it to them, the next thing water goes up 500% to be equivalent to other states yet it makes losses (most likely scenario).... go figure where did all the money go...

I 100% doubt that the all Melayu consortioum can develop the NR corridor successfully on time and on budget.I even doubt Sime Darby would award all contracts to 100% bumi companies and also insist all workers must be malays. They are just after the gravy. Tun MM tried that for the M&E works for his office in Putrajaya by insisting all workers, engineers etc must be Malays and when it was handed over , all the switches went haywire. SP Setia has to come back after office hours to rectify that at a high cost. Its time each person do what they are good in and stick to it and learn along the way.Like they said, kalau kepala tak besar jangan pakai topi besar.

I'm supprised that a back bencher can demand such things from the states chief minister. IMO, if the back bencher is not happy with the status he should either vote against the party, challenge the chief minister for his position or resign. This should be done through party negotiations not demand in parliment.

What does UMNO and Gerakan or MCA has to do with supplying the people of penang with cheap and clean water? Shouldn't this be in the hands of the government not a single party?

Why want to rock an organisation that is doing fine. Penang Water Authority is one of the few in the country that is able to offer clean and cheap water. Moreover,it is profitable. We have seen enough of many organisations that have been messed up when managed by the wrong people who think of filling their own pockets. Penang people better be prepared to pay more water tariff and maybe even face water crisis in the future. And that includes the Penang Malays as well.

money wont fall from the sky.. if u r lazy, no one can help u. if u always need tongkat, one day the tongkat also will patah, and u cannot always hope for new tongkat. Because nothing is free in Malaysia. My grandfather is born in Penang some time 1920s, so do u think he got the tongkat during that time? My grand grandfather came from china and settled down in Penang, did the British Government provide Tongkat? No also.

so time to throw the tongkat and stand tall, unless u think u r kurang upaya, u need help... the most important thing is mentality.

my 2 cents comment la as penangite....

If sime darby were to subcontract the work to penang malays, the only investment and expeience they have is applying for JKR 'A' license. Nothing can be truer than the above mentioned by sydput. In the end, the "rent-seeking culture" may back fire the Penang Malays. Contracts changing from one hand to another hand down (who may not even be true Penang Malays) to the real contractors (probably Chinamen or Hindumen) who may find the profit margin too thin to work on. The tricking down effect is minimal while the cream is being moved to offshore accounts. The end result is prices of basic services rising and the state runs into persistent budget deficit. Is that what Penangites want?

ah hong, well said.
Grengo01, I fully agree with you, when they can't make money they raise the rate instead of review thier management.

I've seen this before, the bumi consortium would sub-contract to chinese contractor and they sub-contract to chinese with cheap indonesian/bangladesh workers, and again we will call it Malaysian Accomplishment but in actually fact all made by Indonesian and bangladesh.Very predictable. The current system has a big flaws in awarding projects, we all know by rule of thumb 20-30% or more will be lost and goes to curruption.

BN (exUmno) politicians refers to UMNO politician as Yang Berhormat Datuk..... (ie Samy Vellu and Ling LS used to refer to TDM as 'Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir'in full)
Umno politicians refers to their BN (exUmno) counterparts as Tsu Koon, Ka Ting, etc, no matter how senior the non UMNO BN politician is.

Goes figure.

Penglibatan luar ini boleh dianggap sebagai "state in a state" dimana Pengerusi Konsortium berkenaan bertindak sebagai KM II kpd P.Pinang.

Sentimen penduduk P.Pinang amatlah sukar diramal.

being a Malay I am surprised and ashamed by all this hula baloo... malu la... kenapa kena buat macam ni? sampai Perbadanan Air pun nak digaduhkan? oh come on... grow up please... instead of blaming other races for your failures.. fight along with them... idiots! keep on wanting to take over something others have built... harapkan bantuan kerajaan... come on la...

blackrage, you are great. You look at the BIG picture for the country.

Melayu ada dua jenis..

1. Melayu UMNO.

2. Melayu Penang. Melayu yang tak malu mengejek melayu UMNO.

blackrage, I respect you. Hat off from me. You point out one of the biggest bad habit of those UMNO Malays. "keep on wanting to take over something others have built" and if I might add "take over and screw it up in no time"

UMNO let go of the position? I bet you seekor lembu that at that time, the account of the Penang Water Consortium either was in the red or at least not able to make much profit. Anyone have any information on that?

I did a search on google and I found this http://www.tni.org/water-docs/pubwaterforall.pdf Apparently Penang has internationally recognized Public Fresh Water Management System. When UMNO took over, it achievements will probably go down the drain (literally). Note the report is dated March 2006. Sadly, Penang name will dropped from this report March 2007 or maybe stayed as part of "bad example" and completely vanish in year 2008 report.

Another report is here www.wdm.org.uk/resources/briefings/aid/dadwlong.pdf.

It's a real shame to let everything that everyone work so hard to archieve go down like this.

Oh yeah, Penang will go back to the grasp of PKR-DAP on the next election. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!

The Chinese have built their corporate wealth over many years through sheer hardwork and risk taking. The UMNOputras want their wealth faster and on a silver platter. when they get it very often it crumbles. Just look at some of the corporate failures in the past and you know what I mean. This country is supposed to be a first world country like Singapore but it is not. We the rakyat are partly to blame for we have voted BN each and everytime. We deserve what we get.

gee guys.. thanks... seriously man... we are already at our 49th anniversary... you would expect these guys would have more brains...

I am not against the 'hak keistimewaan orang Melayu'... tapi these guys were preaching racial harmony... kefahaman sesama bangsa dan agama... tiba tiba salahkan the Chinese... best part is salahkan the Chinese for THEIR failures...

macam ni le... kita beri ayam sepasang dekat adik kita... adik kita bela punya bela dah sampai 1000 ekor... siap boleh jual and make loads of money... what is our rights to come and mintak the whole lot? tak ke bodoh namanye?

Nak "membantu orang melayu"? What's their track record? When I visit my relatives and those of friends in various kampungs in various states, not much has changed. Some houses, just meters away from the main roads, still have water problems, electricity problem, sanitation, transportation problems etc. It's as if they're still stuck in the 1950s.

When they claim they can help the Malays, who are they really helping? No one should hand over anything until these guys can prove that they can help anyone other than themselves.

(angry Malay)
