Haris Hussein Onn?
Hussein Onn is a definitive family name in Malaysian history. Ring a bell to you?
However, it has became a story line in Singapore Business Time, thanks to S. Jayasankaran, and several Screenshots readers has been sending me alerts about it. They wanted me to tell a Malaysian story of how a RM2 company can generate RM70 to 100 million-a-year for 3 years, making it all on cigarettes... and probably on beers.
Quote:
In mid-July, industry executives said that cigarette companies received a letter from Lembah Sari's chairman Haris Onn Hussein informing them that it was taking over the security labelling facilities provided by Kod Efisien for a three-year period. At around the same time, the executives said that the Confederation of Malaysian Tobacco Manufacturers had been informed by Kod Efisien that its services would be replaced by Lembah Sari from August. No reasons were given for the change.
According to documents lodged with Malaysia's Companies Commission, Lembah Sari is a RM2 company - it may have increased its capital to its authorised RM100,000 by now - with two little-known shareholders. Its chairman, Mr Haris, however, is the youngest son of Hussein Onn, Malaysia's third premier, and a brother of Hishamuddin Hussein, the country's Education Minister.
Parliamentary Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang has a clear explanation of this issue in his blog.

Is PM Abdullah practicing what he preaches? How the well connected worm themselves into taking over “CASH COWS”?
Cigarettes and beer 'sin' security labeling has gone to the Husseins and labeling for the Pharmaceuticals has gone to Mahathir's sister-in-law thru Mediharta.
Check details at:
http://powerpresent.blogspot.com/2006/08/lembah-sari-haris-onn-hussein.html
All that is needed is a directive from a relevant Ministry and everyone complies. It is heartening the Malaysian Brewers are resisting the labeling. The prices are already TOO high due to taxes. Cheers! Ostensibly these labeling measures are to prevent smuggling and fake products, But are they effective as they tend to raise the prices of goods.

My friends, sometimes back, 3 years ago, I posted an article about this company Kod efisen getting the contract for labelling. Today it surfaced and like old times, we all taken for a ride with tax payer money changing from one clan to the other. They make all of us sound stupid. Have there been any action against counterfeiters using a fake label or were any of them being caught before? I have never heard of counterfeiters being caught of using fake labels. Who cares about the label anyway. Do we really need to spend the money?

c'mon guys. do you have better ideas on how to make umnoputra rich quickly?
when we are questioning these practices, we are not just questioning fairness, cleanness, transparency or accountability of these deals. we are questioning the privileges of certain group of people to get rich quick.
even with these practices, they still claim that they are not getting rich quick enough. and want more.
and need i remind you that many of them consider these privileges unquestionable?

Something along the same modus operandi....
Yesterday's article in The Star
"Prices of drugs used daily rising steadily
By SYED AZHAR
PETALING JAYA: Malaysians are finding it tough to swallow that prices of commonly used imported drugs have been rising by up to 28% annually for the past 10 years and the trend is expected to continue in the coming years.
I am sure this is somehow connected to the "hologram security device for pharmaceuticals products" ruling.

Whats the big deal here? the cigarette manufacturers pass on the additional unnecessary cost to the consumer and that is all. I am not a consumer of cigarettes ans so this does not bother me. Maybe everyone should stop smoking and this Haris will have nothing to earn anymore. Even then who are the smokers who are coughing up to the coffers of the Hussein family? Are they not in large the Malays themsleves?

Folks
For more than thirty years, the cash cow for those greedy members of UMNO Youth and UMNO is the taxpayers.
The word in mamak stall eversince is this:
To be rich, join UMNO and UMNO Youth
To be a millionnaire, you need family connections in high places in UMNO or UMNO Youth eg a scion of an UMNO leader, or be an in-law or have a sibling in positions of poower.
To be a multimillionaire, stand for UMNO and UMNO Youth elections.
Taxpayers money come from Malays, Chinese and Indians etc, of all political persuasions. But the siphoning of taxpayers money, legally or illegally, to enrich individuals is the domain of those in the positions of power and influence of UMNO and UMNO Youth, all in the name of the affirmative action.
Well done, Malaysians, you work your butts off to help make millionaires of UMNO members without them having to drop one sweat.

So what else is new? Politics as a means to steal or otherwise acquire wealth on any basis except hard work and intelligence, is so much a done thing now nobody gives a flying continental anymore. Dollah, Hisham are hypocrites but they are simply carrying on a tradition which has been there for as long as Malaysians can remember. This ship has begun its sinking process a long time ago and would, one day, lie at the bottom, forgotten by all. Leave now those who can.

Do you know why our medicine (n many other essentilas) are becoming more n more expensive.
By inserting a middleman (like a mosquito) in between here n there to suck.
It is happening in pharmacetical products, it is happening to thousands of items in our daily life.
That is how/why UMNOputra is such a lucrative lot.
Best way to overcome is to become an UmnoPutra yourself if possible. Be the Sucker rather than the ordinary raykat.
So, what is the Big deal ?
'Kod Efisien' or 'Lembah Sari'?
the juicy meat has fallen from a buaya to a shark.
Perhaps umnoputra of the old regime has lose favour, overtaken by Umnoputra of the new.
Either way, it is the blood of the ppl that will be taken.

If there is a way to do it and you can find the lamest of excuses to impose what on the surface at least seems to be for the good of the people....you can be rich by taking it to any UMNO idiot who can make it all happen by getting legislation passed so taht you can now skim on the top.
I have been working on how to whack on every spoonfull or chop-stick full or handfull of rice that goes into people's mouth. Once I got that worked out the reasons come easy enough and I shall sell the idea to any UMNO wannabes and I shall become rich that way. Malaysia boleh remember? So please don't say that I am talking cock here.

The NEP started with good intentions, but ends with bad realities.
The NEP did not benefit one race; it actually benefits one CLASS of people (I hope you know what I mean).
If you have the money, you can exploit the NEP to create more money for yourself and your chosen buddies. Thanks to the NEP, you can create new business strategies and build greater prosperity.
People who have powerful minds for business see every adversity as an opportunity. Nothing, not even the NEP, can stop them.
If you suddenly have the good fortune to become a member of this class, you will stop supporting this blogs as well as other blogs that fight for truth and justice. Instead, you will support the ban on the internet.

Those who voted BN in the last GE please raise your hands. And if you are one of those who are now complaining about corruption etc in the present government, my advice to you is: SHUT UP!

NEP, if u think it has been formulated to help the Malay poors. Then u have been naively fooled.
That is what they want you to believe. In reality, NEP is meant for UmnoPutra only.
Democracy in this country is a Govt. by UmnoPutra for UmnoPutra.
Being a Malay, you may think you can benefit from NEP. Answer is Wrong-lah, you get only token handout.
Then for a Malay & also Umno member, it is still not enough, u may get slightly bigger handout.
For the real thing ! Only UmnoPutra boleh !
This bolehland is running on relations, especially if you have nice father, brother, uncle or FIL.
