General Election is near?
According to The Star, Umno information chief Muhammad Muhammad Taib has told party members to follow party rules and regulations during the division meetings as the general election is near.
There are sources that say the Mahathir-Abdullah tussle will be forgotten by October, though no cause has been given. PAS vice president Dr Hassan Ali told me the same thing when we spoke over wtv8.tv last week.
Malaysia celebrates 50th anniversary of Merdeka this month next year. Abdullah will be the man in the euphoria of general feel-good moods of the silver jubilee. Will that be auspicious time for a general election?

General elections this year? Sounds like a pre-emptive strike..to garner sufficient votes for a new term before things really take a turn for the worse perhaps? Is this a sign of things to come? An economic meltdown? Spiralling cost of living? Sounds like the gov't itself sees a bleak future...

It will be forgotton by October because of, among other things, the Budget.
The budget will be tabled on September 1, one day after Merdeka Day.
Friends and acquaintances tell me that we, the people, are gonna get bribed pretty good in this one.
JEFF OOI says: I gave an interview to M-Star yesterday, and talked about the 9MP therapy: Projects and Contracts and WHO gets WHAT and HOW much which will go to determine how soon the tussle will be smoothen. I am sure it's up by now.

Aisehman, daylight bribery to vote for ...?
Why history repeats again and again?
Wonder who are the bigger recipients of the piece of cake.
Can't wait to cast my first vote for the elections.

Hi Jeff,
I decided to leave my comment instead of just visting for the last 2 years..in support for your blog.
I am one of those 'so_hai' who voted in BN the last 20 years. When I think about it, I realised that I treated our former PM as a Father of Malaysia. Mind you, I didn't always agree with my own father, but, I have always respected and loved him. Today, I have '..lost that lovely (fatherly) feeling' for my country. When my father passed away, one thing I hated doing was going through his personal items. Everyone has secrets and many should just remain secret. We cannot judge someone without having walked in his moccasin, especially our father.

People are forgetful. I hope those who read jeff wouldn't forget the atrocities of the present government and try put some balance back into the parliament in the next GE.
It’s funny how the government is constantly threatening us -- the government that was supposed to work FOR us. Imagine being treated this way by your maid -- the person who’s paid by YOU to work FOR you tells you what to do and all decisions are not made in your best interest.
Jeff you should seriously consider diving into politics. You have tons of supporters here.

....guess depends on what the next campaign has in store...
basically, I'd like someone to fight against the Sultan of Selangor for cinemas in Shah Alam..
and anyone who can stop people who ride motorcycles from using that damn sidewalk where people actually "walk" is also welcome...
but i doubt the PAS candidate will go for the cinema's in Shah Alam idea...
guess BN's my hope for a cinema in Shah Alam...

General elections soon?? UMNO must be mad to have an early elections with all the bad vibes they are getting. The AAB feel good factor is gone, lost.
If they are in the right sense of mind...they should try to play for time and weather the situation..and hope the Tun issue etc etc die off..
Going to elections now will make Barisan perform bad...and the PM in waiting will use this excuse to force AAB out.
I don't think AAB will be calling elections soon.

I don't think it would be that soon....
I view it this way...one of the indications is censorship of internet and blogs...once this is done...plus we bising for few weeks....then everything back to normal...then general election may come...

i don't think the GE is around the corner... maybe mid of next year, after 6 months announcement of petrol price increase.
unless.... AAB was force by certain group to do so... so that someone will gain from AAB lost...
maybe it is around the corner... maybe

"Friends and acquaintances tell me that we, the people, are gonna get bribed pretty good in this one."
Down south, one of two world's longest despot(the other one is sick and hospitalised now,Castro of Cuba) gave Progress Package minutes before the election and they got 66.6%,despite many social probalems, one of which is the ever widening income gap, with a Gini coefficient above 5,it is the highest in the so called first world which despot takes much pride to announce to the whole world consistently.
TDM recently informed that up to RM80 billion are available for distribution from Petronas,if AAB is a good student of despot which I am not too sure( but I do believe that his beloved son-in-law respects the despot quite a fair bit),he would surely know what to do.
We shall wait and see but never trust politicains, whether from East,West or central, they hae only one mission in life, and that is to BS the voters big time.
A proper system of checks and balances is the only way forward.
