Your minister, Pak Lah
Recently, Chan Kong Choy's ministry has tried very hard to promote road safety, reminding motocyclists to wear and fasten their crash helmet whenever on the road.
This is one of the print ads spent in the local papers by the Government to send the road safety message across to the bikers:

But there's at least one deputy minister who thinks he can take law into his own hands.

We have a liberal government afterall, so the minister can show leadership by example in his chosen way.
Use this as a mitigating factor whenever you're caught for 'monkey see, monkley do'?
Thanks reader BC Ong for the alert.

Alamak. There's that JPJ website where one sends pictures of folks breaking the law isn't there? So this photo should be forwarded to it quickly.
And we can then sit back and see if the summons will be sent to the law-breaking deputy minister and his pillion rider.
Actually, the deputy minister should of his own accord come forward to admit his error, apologise and volunterr to pay the fine without the JPJ or police having to issue him with a summons. We all make mistake, and if he admits his error, he will show that he is honorable and law-abiding.
But will he? And his pillion-ridr 'Ramli'?

i rcvd a poslaju mail from The Police for a speeding offence in June 2006. The car was sold but the name has yet to be transfered but i duly paid the fine nevertheless via MBB2U the very same day. I also registered myself with www.rilek.com.my and to check whether i hv anymore outstanding summonses. Well, to my horror i hv another one for a speeding 2005! I dont remember rcvg any thru mail. How am I to argue with those fellas? I paid the fine nevertheless. But one thig still baffles me, I went to check my status with the police dept when they were abt to launch those OPS OPS thingy and my record was clean. And now this year 2005 summon really caught me by surprise.
If the minister can waste money and churn out millions worth of road safety advertisement but not hv a proper monitoring of everyday's traffic offences by either the public transport system and how motorists flout the laws on a daily basis, we r heading nowhere but the grave. Look at the bus accident that killed many ppl yesterday. Was the driver falling asleep? Was the bus in good road condition? If not, why? And why was it allowed to be on the road? Whatever happened to those black box and mandatory puspakom check? On thing that Msia is no.1 in the world is the road fatality. Msia BOLEH!

And can someone inform the police to catch those idiot motorcyclists that use the Federal Highway instead of the dedicated bike lanes? I already did my part by SMS-ing the Star and hopefully this will get those fellas in white to catch these idiots b4 any major accidents happen. Mind you, these bikers are moving in and out of traffic at break neck speed.

If people want to put themselves at risk or kill themselves, why bother sending them summonses? Give them medals instead for their humanitarian service. Planet earth has way too many people already.

Well ,most politicians in developing countries think that by showing that they are "above the law" they demonstrate virility! Even if it kills.......

interesting enough, is that..
dalam Seksyen 7(a) Peraturan Kenderaan Bermotor
(Keselamatan Tali Pinggang Keledar) 1978
[P.U. (a) 378/1978]
memberikan pengecualian kepada sesiapa
yang berada dalam kenderaan polis, tentera,
bomba dan ambulans
daripada memakai tali pinggang keledar ....
apa ni?????
bukankah memakai tali pinggang keledar ini
perlu kerana keselamatan?
adakah ini memaklumkan bahawa
anggota polis KEBAL?
(undang-undang mahupun badan)
Lead by Example...
jika anggota polis di negara-negara lain,
perlu dan memang memakai tali pinggang keledar,
rasanya, Malaysia juga Boleh!!!
well..
if our very own VVIPs..
if the authorities..
the police..
are not doing so..
how would the others follow?
someone did argue
that the police need not to wear seatbelt..
reason being for the 'effectiveness' of the job?
i.e. sebab senang nak keluar kereta
bila nak kejar penjahat...
huh???
hmmm... one may even wonder..
if other policemen in other countries
who are wearing their seatbelts..
are they not effective?
the point that i wanted to stress out here..
is SAFETY...
MALANG tidak berbau dan tidak mengenal siapa..

perhaps this photo was taken just after they start off... and it was meant to be a publicity photo or photo for the press, so naturally they can't wear helmet or else their faces won't show clearly.it's a 'posing' photo specially meant for the press so they did not wear helmets. i'm sure if they really start going on the road, they will wear helmets.

susmaryosep - to a certain extent, your argument about "most politicians in developing countries think that by showing that they are "above the law" they demonstrate virility!" does hold water, and in the fashion of Darwin Awards, albeit in a cold-hearted manner, there is truth in the thinking that the self-culling of big-headed politicans is good for the nation.
But what if they are not killed by their own foolish berlagak behaviour? Just paralysed or in a coma for years and years. Guess who pays for their medical expenses? I think whatever the cause of the need for big0bucks treatment and care, the politicans are entitled to first-class medical care are the rakyat's expense. And while they are KO'd by their own foolishness, guess who pays their salaries during their medical leave?
So as the people paying their salaries and their medical expenses, we should get quite angry at their "do-as-I-say, not-as-I-do" show-off antics.

What about those Muslims who go to mosque on Friday? Are they exempted from wearing helmets? It is always a privilege for the one race!
