What to look out for
Looming on the horizon, according to A. Kadir Jasin (AKJ):
- The Prime Minister has indirectly given recognition to the bloggers by advising the mainstream media not to ape and compete with websites and bloggers to be the popular information channel;
- The contract of the CEO of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Azlan Mohd Zainol, may not be renewed. If that happened, watch out for who his replacement. EPF, with an asset totalling RM240.3 billion (in 2004), is a "diamond mine" for many a financial intermediary;
- Contract, or letter of approval, may have been issued to certain parties to build the glorious sports complex in the UK that's worth RM490 million. Or else, why was there a Minister so adamant in defending the project and was so certain of its cost? Who is the contractor?
AKJ wrote in Bahasa Malaysia. The translation is mine, and apologies before hand if there are flaws in my translation.
You sure Khairy no more there?
Elsewhere in the same blog, AKJ said Khalil Yaakob, the person touted as the mediator in the Mahathir-Abdullah tussle, has written a letter to the Prime Minister in which he relayed Mahathir's message after their meeting on July 1.
Even though Abdullah has clarified that Khairy Jamaluddin no longer works for him, AKJ's sources said Khalil, a former politician who is now a non-partisan, symbolic head of state, had relayed his letter to the PM through the famous son-in-law, in his capacity that bypasses that of the Umno Youth chief.

On July 25, Mahathir confirmed that Khalil was the 'mediator', and that they did meet up face-to-face and his message has been conveyed to the latter. Via AgendaDaily:
Malaysiakini has the same story.
Comments
If it is true that Khalil did in fact deliver his message via KJ, then that's the end of the so-called mediation effort. How stupid can these people be ? Mahathir must be puking every morning....

There is an interesting article which is written by Raja Petra Kamarudin on "Who is really running Malaysia anyway?". It is also related to Khairy Jamaluddin.
Check it out at: http://www.malaysia-today.net/CorridorsPower/2006/07/who-is-really-running-malaysia-anyway.htm

I used to work at brickendonbury research centre. I struck my first tee shot on the sports field on Christmas eve as no one else was there. It was a large mansion not unlike many found in Malaysia that are being demolished. It has an adjoining lab for testing and another facility to formulate the rubber compunds. The government of Malaysia does not own the property as I understand it. The surrounding areas are full of sporting activities during the weekend, such as horse riding, cycling football, rugby and of course cricket in summer. Numerous country roads/fields and lanes and abundant greenery.
It is better for the sports minister to encourage these sports in her own country rather than build the so called sports facility at brickendonbury. The cost of building a so called community sports/swimming complex in every district in Malaysia should be encouraged as it benefit numerous citizens instead of a seleted chosen few. These community sports facilities should be managed by traied personnel and have in their payroll, coaches in the field of squash/badminton, swimming etc. Instead, you see numerous playing field being converted into Suraus with an adjoining religious school. If we had spent as much money bulding mosques as we had on community sports facilities, we would not have as many drug addicts and mat racers and could have created champions out of them. Only a sports minister with no interest in its citizens could have come out with a plan such as this.

Hi Jeff
Just pop-in to take a breather. Got plenty in the mind, but no time to transfer from brain to computer.
I watched, or rather repeat watched, these films:
1. Oliver Stone's controversial film "JFK". It shows how far a group of people will go to control the government.
2. "The Crooked E. The unshredded truth about Enron." It shows how a young man was seduced by greed, and the lessons he learnt.
Each time I watch, I gain new insights.

Folks
Who is the PM kidding to say that the famous son in law does NOT work for him.
For crying out loud, that is the PM's son in law. He doesn't have to have any office in Putrajaya to to work for the PM.
Written letters like that is not worth the paper it is written.
There has to be open and transparent action to make the famous son in law out of the picture of influencing Govt policy.
First, he should be removed from the deputy post in UMNO Youth. Consider that as conflict of interest.
The famous son in law's business interest should be brought into the files of the ACA and under the purview of Parliament for transparency.
The damage the famous son in law had caused to the PM, to the Govt and the perception of widespread conflict of interest,nepotism/cronyism, is already beyond repair.
The young man does not know the limits.
Power corrupts and power given to young upstarts is dangerous.

In regards to the 490 million sports center it's obvious that the minister has her fingers in the cookie jar as there's been plenty of criticism on it, even in the mainstream media. Just think of how many properly irrigated soccer fields (with grass, yes grass!!), community sports complexes with gym's, swimming pools, futsal courts can be built with that money. Instead, we end up having hundreds of millions spent on white elephants that end up dilapidated after years of neglect. Obviously, big contracts mean bigger hand-outs for those in charge:

Malaysians are sports enthusiasts. You only have to take a look at the crowded futsal courts to see that. Go to the Sportsplanet in SJ and see how many people turn out even though it costs R100 an hour..imagine the turnout if we had community futsal courts across the country. Make sports a part of the people's lifestyle and see how many Mokhtar Dahari's, Nicol David's and Shalin Zulkifli's the next generation will produce...

Yes the words spoken (as in Agenda Daily) by Tun Dr M in the interview were
1. Don’t kowtow to Singapore
2. Don’t give too many APs
3. Don’t undermine Proton
4. Don’t Sell Augusta , those things.
It is in the Star Video and the transcript together with his denial of MAS shares and the role of Daim in it is available from:
