This Tajudin... ( 2 )
The Tajudin Ramli expose on his alleged 'national service' -- buy MAS to save Bank Negara -- is it good for the Abdullah administration to thwart Dr Mahathir?
Look at this Pg 3 headline in the spin-doctors' newspaper, it tells something about 'arms' length':

SOURCE: The NST,June 7, 2006
Related to this, RockyBru, who was a business reporter before becoming the (fromer) executive editor of (old) Malay Mail, has a take:
TR is trying to save his butt in the most unlikely manner.
I think the ex-MAS boss is trying to get even with Daim and Dr M. You must not forget that, contrary to the popular belief (that TR is being prosecuted by the Abdullah administration and because of Abdullah's policies), TR was actually exposed when Dr M was still the PM and Daim was a powerful figure in the government.
Perhaps he had expected them to bail him out and they did not?
But having said that, we must not forget that TR is counter-sueing the government and Dr M is NO LONGER part of the government.
But RockyBru's real stinger is this:
In any case, TR must serve as a painful lesson to Umno and the Malays that you can't manufacture a Malay tycoon out of an average businessman.
This is not Akademi Fantasia.
But is this lesson being learnt? Nope, bro.
Since Abdullah took over, there have been many TRs coming out of his manufacturing line.
And some of them have been going around shamelessly telling everybody about how the PM had forced them into taking up their present powerful positions in the name of national service!!
If they fail like TR did, can you imagine what they'd be saying in a few years time?
And talk of painful lessons for the Malays, A. Kadir Jasin has an observation: Melayu Bersengketa Siapa Untung?
Comments
This guy has the cheek to say he was forced. Has everybody forgotten what mess he did to MAS. Has anybody know how much he gorek from MAS and finally has everyone forgotten at the end of the day, how much did the government paid to buy back MAS? same same lah..

There's another investigation which should be conducted.
We read of the accusation levelled at the Customs for selling luxury cars at non-auction prices to 'special people'. Somehow over the past few days, the furor has been contained by saying it's the right of MPs to get a car. That has tied back to the old allowance of one AP per MP. But what has an AP for an MP got to do with an MP (and others, for that matter) buying a seized vehicle at sub-auction price, based on a closed deal that falls outside the norms of public practice, for that matter governmental procedure? For the loss of government revenue collection, isn't that corruption in another guise?
Just as that seems to be taking place, think of Danaharta selling its acquisitions to 'special people' at non-auction rates, or even at rates predetermined by those 'special people'. What's the difference between that and the above case?
Now...is Daim reading this?

All this national service bullshitting is an after thought to glorify their greed and corruption just to make themselves look good to the majority who are less literate and easily swayed and made to believe.
If it had been a NS, there wouldn't so much milking of MAS whilst he was there. Have we ever heard or seen any worthwhile cause he made back then.
