Gag order on Kalimullah and Chang over RM50m/RM100m counter-suits
The Court has ordered both Kalimullah Masheerul Hassan and Matthias Chang, who counter sued each other for RM50 million and RM100 million espectively over a June 11 article in The NST, to stop making statements against each other pending the disposal of a defamation suit between them.
Justice Kang Hwee Gee of the Kuala Lumpur High Court granted the orders in chambers yesterday.
Relevant stories are available in Malaysiakini, Utusan Malaysia, The Star, The NST, and Oriental Daily News.
The June 11 article in contention, written by Kalimullah, has also been disputed for "factual errors" by former prime minister Dr Mahathir via his press secretary, Sufi Yusoff.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, in his meet-the-press session on July 18, also gave a perspective in support of Mahathir/Sufi's rebuttal of factual errors in Kalimullah's article.
