Abdullah feared rumours on Internet
Meanwhile, PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he was angry over the incident and ordered the police to conduct an immediate investigation and to take stern action against those responsible for the act.
He said the matter should be immediately resolved to avoid negative implications and misconception among the public.
According to The Star, he also feared that certain quarters would take advantage of the incident by disseminating rumours, especially through the Internet.
On the other hand, Parliamentary Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang wrote on his blog, condemning the bodily attack on Dr Mahathir. Quote:
The despicable teargas attack on former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Kota Baharu on his arrival this morning must be condemned by all Malaysians in the strongest possible terms as it represents a culture which is completely unacceptable and must not be allowed to take root in Malaysia. However strongly or even viscerally one disagrees with another, and undoubtedly Mahathir is the object of powerful sentiments of both animosity and support, there can be no excuse for such a physical attack on another person.
Kit Siang also said the police should be able to instantly bring to book the culprit, or culprits, who perpetrated the attack, not so much because he was the former prime minister for 22 years but because like any other Malaysian, he should have freedom of movement, speech and expression without fear of loutish and gangsterism elements taking the law into their own hands.
UPDATES at 17:24hr: The session ended the with the traditional Kelantanese culture of cutting the pulut semangat.
On-site photos of Dr Mahathir's arrival at Kota Baru airport this morning can be viewed at Generasi-M.com.

Hi Jeff
I'm half working and half internetting. At this rate, I may face sacking.
I watched the live video (damn the disruption though) on Malaysia Today and was overwhelmed by the technology!
Today, I want to remember TDM for all the good things he has done for us. Uppermost in my mind now is ICT. Next, is Astro. Third is Putrajaya (because my friends from USA fall in love with the place, cruising the lake, admiring the bridges and saying the view is better than Singapore).
For all the alleged bad things TDM has done, today I realize that if it had been another person and not TDM, things could have been far worse.
Thanks for all the update. God will bless you and your comrades in blogsphere - I'm absolutely sure of that. Cheers!

looks like TDM and Jeff have simililarities in their dislike for certain personalities, mostly from the nst.
The attacks are getting personal against AAB. This is not a good sign. Maintain elegant silence in my opinion is best solution.
JEFF OOI says: I have said this numerous times in the past 42 months that I blogged. What I like or dislike is not at all important. Let me be the messenger, but YOU draw your own conclusion on all things and bear full responsibility of your decisions.

Folks
Those thugs who attacked TDM are bastards. I don't think it is an individual thing. The black hand behind this must be exposed.
And the attack is taking place in Kelantan, a PAS stronghold. This is not to embarrass TDM but the PAS Govt.
Someone is trying to hurt two birds with one spray.

"According to The Star, he also feared that certain quarters would take advantage of the incident by disseminating rumours, especially through the Internet."
Cannot rumours be festtered by the mainstream media, by maintaining its usual elegant silence or ommission to report? Berita Harian and Utusan are useful vehicles to ensure the context and objectives of the Article 11 Forums are demonised by using their clever and not so clever slants in their writing styles. But then again I guess the license issued by the government, just like James Bond's license to kill, is the license to ommit, commit, skew, slant and edit in such a way as to provoke the stupids in the country!

it's a wonder how so many jump on the wagon before more is known of the "attack".... questions to ask should include:
who would benefit most from such physical "attacks" on dr.m in public?
is dr.m's people capable of planning and/or carrying out such attacks?
evidently we didn't learn much in 20 years under dr.m's reign...
