Anwar on Najib's wife, Umno's vault and Dr M's plan

Just as fromer PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad and DPM Najib Abdul Razak happened to be in London at the moment, former DPM Anwar Ibrahim decided to give Malaysiakini an exclusive interview last week.

DrM_Najib_060718.jpgHowever remote it may seem, Anwar told Malaysiakini that the on-going attack against Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi could be a plot to bring Dr Mahathir back to the helm.

London rendezvous?

On the other hand, Malaysiakini today quoted sources as saying that Dr Mahathir left for London from Turkey last night. He is expected to spend four days there before returning to Malaysia.

In London, Mahathir is slated to meet members of Umno clubs as well as Malaysians residing there. The meetings were arranged by his son Mukhriz.

This gave rise to raised eye-brows about the timing of Mahathir’s visit to London which coincides with Najib’s official tour.

Earlier, Najib had denied rumours that said he met Mahathir in Langkawi after Abdullah left on a holiday to Australia last month.

Najib Factor

So, how about the Najib factor? Anwar said he does not expect Najib to mount a challenge against Abdullah because the DPM is too "guarded and calculative" to take advantage of the on-going crisis within the ruling party.

“He is never known to have strong views. We would probably have to consult (Najib's wife) Rosmah on her views too… but I don't foresee this sort of challenge,” he quipped.[...]

Najib has always been seen to follow this feudal tradition... he's not the new liberal Malay except for the facade.

Anwar, however, said Najib's statements of support for Abdullah has been "far from convincing".

RM8 billion kitty

In the two-hour interview last week with the malaysiakini, which serialises it beginning today, Anwar also alleged that Umno, which he was once part of, had amassed a cash horde of RM8 billion.

He said this was done through an opaque system of Umno-linked tycoons and companies holding the money on behalf of the party.

Anwar also noted that there was a tinge of racism in Mahathir's criticisms against the Singapore government, especially on the crooked bridge issue. Quote:

“This is Singapore, our neighbour - setting aside that it is a difficult neighbour - but still the subtle racist undertones to my mind is very irresponsible on his (Mahathir's) part,” said Anwar...

“Not only (he raised the issue of) nationalism but (he) also (spoke) against the Chinese and Singapore (whom he claimed are) trying to act tough against the Malay leadership and that they (the Chinese leadership in Singapore) should be taught a lesson.”

Anwar will touch on Bank Negara’s multi-billion forex speculation in the next instalment of the interview.

So come on now Anwar, tell us how much of that loot of RM8 billion was contributed through your shenanigans and machinations!

Mahathir is talking facts. He very well realizes the game of Senior DIRTBAG Lee Kuan Yew & the plot S'pore is hatching. The dimwits in Gerakan & DAP are playing into the hands of Lee. Forget racialism, but the S'pore monarchy must be taught a lesson. Is Anwar playing the racial card to win support?
And why is Anwar cribbing about a mere RM8 billion - did he miss out on his share? His 'belakang kira' aspirations sure have left him in a mess - The Grapes sure are Sour!

Mu sources tell me the present (former PM) Dr Mahathir-Pak Lah (current PM )FACE-OFF will take to a higher level -- so approprate between former DPM (Anwar Ibrahim) and current DPM (Najib Razak.
Sdr Anwar was also conincidentkly in Australia when Pak Lah wenty for his long holiday (cum sinus operation) -- I believe the two could have "accidentally" met up, as Oxford-trained Khairy Jamaludin can be relied onn to sept up such incidents.

Furthermore, reading about Anwar's "dig" at Najib's wife, can I just add that the "wife" factor does indeed play a BIG part in the present Acts. It is commonly known tghat Pak Lah's late wife, Datin Seri Endon Mahmood, (may her soul rest in peace) got on pretty well with Anwar's wife Datin Seri Wan Azizah, PKR President. And we wall know while Endon and Rosmah attended some functions together, they tried darn;d hard to establsih eye-contact. Sorry for Raja Petra-style story-sopinning, but that's all I can say at the moment. Jeff- sorry for some own promo --Visit my Blog tomorrow for some juice?

the move to bring in Anwar has started....

Cawangan Umno Permatang Pauh usul terima Anwar

“Saya sentiasa mengikuti perkembangan Pak Syeikh, saya ikuti ceramah-ceramahnya, saya tonton vcd ceramahnya,

This wild (?) thought just occurred to me:

What if Najib pakat with Dr M, and on Pak Lah's side, the door is opened for Anwar to make up with UMNO, and he is then the ideal person to counter Najib.

Boleh jadi ke?

In politics, (practically) nothing is impossible. and it would not be unthinkable for Anwar and UMNO (at the behest of Pak Lah) to forgive each other say during Hari Raya.

Alamak. Dr M / Najib vs Pak Lah / Anwar. THAT would be a really interesting contest!

Just an observation. The Pak Lah-Anwar combination will be tough to work as:

1 - Both come from the same state, and UMNO does not support the notion of having its top 2 leaders from the same state. This was why Pak Lah was Anwar's worst enemy in the past, and also what drove him to Team B.

2 - The Sultans and nobles, their support still critical in any tight struggle for Malay hearts and minds, will not approve of having both a PM and DPM from a Sultan-less state. This is the reason why Anwar had to remove Ghafar, as Ghafar would be pressed against having Anwar as deputy.

Both Anwar and Pak Lah know these facts. They both also know that Najib as a noble and a traditionalist with a more extensive power base in UMNO than either of them at the moment. And whilst Najib may not be willing to grab for power himself, he is nevertheless the kingmaker each needs.

So, the question really is, can KJ really trust Anwar not to challenge Pak Lah for UMNO President in partnership with Najib in a second bargain to gain forgiveness from Dr M, hence sealing Anwar's support base, once Pak Lah leads the way for Anwar's re-entry?

RAHMAAN...

A M Ubaidah S

You raised a very good point.

Anwar days are over in terms of becoming the PM at least in the next 20 years! I am NOT saying that he will not be a good PM, he would have.. but destiny was against him and his karma in his present life is simply not on his side.

Anwar can still be a great Son of Malaysia by being a voice of conscience of the public, with his inside knowledge of the hanky-pankies of UMNO, and he has the "locus standi" which Lim Kit Siang will never have, to speak up against this BN Govt.

I would advise Anwar to forget about the PM position, but be a voice, a patriotic voice that can change Govt or can make Govt be more accountable to the citizens.

The problem we have is not the ineffectiveness of Govt or the lack of competence of the Cabinet to run this country. It is that UMNO had become a worsening problem to the nation's social and economic ills and it had no more a solution. UMNO was an important player in the early days of Merdeka and soon after that.

Since then, greed, uncheck power by the UMNO elites, UMMNO leadership's manipulation of politics of racial fears, cronyism and money-politics have destroyed UMNO as a credible political party of choice to run this country. Its tentacles of influence in all spheres of politics and economics of the country are diseased.

Its people like Anwar who can effectively expose this disease in UMNO and to cleanse the ugly side of UMNO's politics, for the good of this country.

When Pak Lah became PM, I had hoped that he would free Anwar because of the inhumane teatment that was dished out to him through the judicial system. If my recollection is correct he received two sentences and one was to follow the other and not concurrently. This was designed to ensure that he will spend a long time behind bars. Assuming Anwar was guilty as charged, and many may feel he was set up, the punishment he received was extreme cruelty. He was not charged with killing anyone. Even drunk drivers who mow down women and children are not treated that badly. And what did then IGP get for the infamous balck eye? So I am pleased he is free and I do not care what the plot is behind the release. Just that he is free.

Now, will Anwar's comeback be good for the country? Let us face the fact that we don't seem to have good thinking people running this country. The mere fact that the proposal of a RM20,000 fine for losing MyKad could be dreamed up in the first place shows we have become the land of the stupid under the present administration. Thank god this banal proposal will not see the light of day. But will Anwar's re-entry change that?

How about Jeff going into politics, using the internet to propel him to be the blogoshere's first MP?

JEFF OOI says: Politics? I am not ABLE, and I am not WILLING. I do enjoy the circus if I am in the moods for darts.

While UMNO leaders (and by default the top dogs of the Country) are no angels by any stretch of the imagination, I believe MCA, MIC and other BN components are just as culpable for the dim-witnes of the current Administration.

Too bad the Opposition Front is far too light weight to be taken seriously. I really hope we can find a charismatic and visionary leader soon, very soon. Sigh, I for one am considering a "Presidential Election"!! - so that we don't get served with half-past-six PM (leaders) without much of a say. Cheers.

TDM: "The promises were broken merely weeks after AAB took over office"...

Could he be refering to the release of Anwar from the prison of Kajang?

Speaking of goodwill, if you were framed and someone set you free, would you be grateful to this 'someone' and try as much as you can to help this 'someone' when he is in trouble?

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
