Worlds apart
As karmic wind blows in circle, will the political climate cool down with the former and present Prime Ministers going on holidays worlds apart from each other?
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will be fishing and golfing as he takes his family members for a two-week vacation in their holiday home in Perth.
Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be holidaying in Turkey and Greece with his family members and close friend, tycoon T. Ananda Krishnan, says Leslie Lopez in Singapore Straits Times (June 30, Page 16).
(Satellite link-up? You must be out of your mind!)
Meanwhile, after the Wednesday Cabinet meeting, many Umno ministers felt they have found the materials to 'checkmate' Mahathir on the "crooked bridge" debacle and FA Minister Syed Hamid Albar was asked to do the delivery. The NST calls it "Shifting Sands".
Comments
We need to understand the issues here.
What Syed Hamid explained were issues raised at the time when we wanted to proceed with straight bridge. After the effort to get Singapore to agree with straight bridge failed, Dr M said that Singapore didn't object us to proceed with half-bridge. He even showed a letter from Singapore to prove that.
So, by right the issues of offering sands and airspace shouldn't arise after we decided to proceed with half-bridge. But what irked Dr M was he claimed the issues were brought up again by our govt to Singapore for some reasons after we already started works on the half-bridge and when he's no longer in the govt.
Can't Syed Hamid explain the real motive for our govt to offer the sands and airspace again to Singapore after we already started work on the half-bridge instead of trying to confuse the rakyat? Prove that Dr M wrong by showing a hard evidence in the form of letter, etc instead of merely talking.

The issue is, has been, and will always be, as someone pointed out in other threads, the sharing of the spoils.
If the concessionaires for the supply of sand are Dr M's people, then he would not raise the issue.
Now that the new concessionaires are mostly going to people related to the new administration, Dr M raised the issue. Go figure.
You want real motive and hard evidence? Can you handle the truth?
Let the government publish the names of all the concessionaires - the past, the present and the future, and we shall see what this brouhaha is all about.

wat kok you talk? we can't build the crooked bridge. end of story. even if we went ahead and build the crooked bridge we can't cut the causway and the water pipe and railroad, etc.
some idiot, probably one of old mah's aides, probably a supposed lawyer too, might have suggested to call singapore's bluff but sg gov completely ignored it and didn't take the bait - lesson learned: never assume your opponent is as stupid as you are.
if we went ahead to build the bridge, we may end up having to pay compensation to sg after spending billions more building a bridge that goes no where.
you want to hear the truth? you've got it. you just can't stomach it t's all.

I was wondering about something, and it occurred to me that I may be trying to ask myself a stupid question.
The Question: If there are two diametrically different views about who was behind the sand sale deal and each side is implying that, or even alleging that, the other is party to improprieties, why have there been no lawsuits, sueing for mega-bucks damages for defamation?
But why did it dawn upon me that The Question is a stupid question?

First, AAB won't answer Dr M, so he asked his ministers who are mostly not very clever to answer the questions for him.
And so we find Syed Hamid Albar, spokesman no 2 of AAB (spokesman no 1 is Nazri) answering questions at Parliament, questions posed by Lim Kit Siang and other MPs.
And NST concludes that Syed Hamid has got all the answers to Dr M's queries.
Really, really not clever lah, Mr Minister.

And Jeff, can't keep this to myself. It's a joke so I hope Nazri does not come after me or sue my ass off!
Here goes:
Nazri said Dr M is "sleeping with the enemy".
Well, we know that Pak Lah is, er, "sleeping" - not with the enemy, not with anybody, just sleeping.
Question is, who is Nazri sleeping with these days?

Kawan, SHA oledi said at the end of the interview -
"As directed by the Prime Minister, Syed Hamid said his ministry would come up with a more detailed explanation on the issues raised by Dr Mahathir on the bridge, sand and air space."
Sebijik like my collague who always answer "I check & come back to you,ok?" - when asked with checkmate questions.

Now you will understand why TDM had so many non-bumi proxies. In times of trouble not many of his own type is helping him - probably just lip service.
AK indian man is more trusting.

When things get hot, go on a holiday. When trouble is brewing, go on a holiday. When you retire, IMMEDIATELY go on a holiday - fly off that evening itself (even though it is standard practice for a predecessor to help out in the early stage when the successor takes over). Holiday in "exotic" places such as Spain, Greece, Turkey, England, France, Switzerland, USA, Australia and other "Western" destinations. It is OK if these holiday destinations are located in the "morally decadent" West where all sorts of "sinful" behaviour, including homosexualism, are tolerated if not acceptable. What can "Truly Asia" and other Asian destinations offer - only Asian hospitality, culture, good food, beautiful beaches and mountains, great monuments and other such ordinary things.
Note: This message is for top political leaders (past and present). It is not for commoners like you and me.

my new yr wish
1- a brain-packed leader minus the current pea-brained
2- an independent newspaper, not politically controlled
3- cancelled all the 'toilet visit' trip for ministers. use the 500mil to send to minister to cambridge for re-education.
4- NO MORE PRICE HIKE AND EMPTY PROMISE, we look like an idiot everytime they make stupid excuse since they thought we do accept it but the fact is, we dont. we are just waiting for the next election
Happy New Year
