'3rd Party' & 'Post-PM Syndrome'

Dr Mahathir loyalist Rural and Regional Development Minister Abdul Aziz Shamsuddin has broken his silence over the Mahathir-Abdullah impasse.

He commented yesterday that Mahathir doesn't harbour personal grudges over his successor, but the problems between the two were caused by a third party which tried to control the Abdullah administration.

Also yesterday, Umno Seremban division declared that the tiff between Abdullah and Mahathir would not have happened if the premier had shown more respect to his ex-boss who is regarded as an eminent former leader who contributed immensely to this nation.

Speaking to malaysiakini, division head Ishak Ismail said his 18,000-strong members were dissatisfied with the way the current administration had handled the issue.

On Monday, Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin (ZAM) commented that Dr Mahathir’s remarks about Abdullah should be viewed positively by the people as Mahathir's criticisms were meant to test the prime minister as part of the nation's leadership development in line with Malaysia's transition to a developed and highly regarded nation.

"The leadership of every nation undergoes trials and the Prime Minister takes responsibility in handling these trials," he said.

June 19, Umno deputy president Najib Abdul Razak declared that "there is no dominant leader who does not support Abdullah as the prime minister or Umno president, and there are no factions in Umno".

Is Mahathir's 'post prime ministerial syndrome' fermenting?

If a husband ever told his wife that she was never his first choice in marriage, how would she feel?

Why on earth would a husband say it if it was not to spite her wife ?

I'm afraid Abdul Aziz does not see the whole picture.

Who is the "third party which tried to control the Abdullah administration"?

Any truth to that allegation?

If there is truth in it, then is that 3rd party still trying to control, or IS controlling, the Abdullah administration?

You rightly described aziz shamsuddin as a Mahathuir loyalist; hence whatever he says, shamsuddin says from a "beholden to Dr M" vantage point. The same applies to ZAM, athink the worst choice of Information Minister that Pak Lah admin would ever have to endure -- so out of tune with modern times with his old school thinking of what media is (I made this indference based onm his pronouncments tio date...). Suddenly Zam went "against the grain" in his current explanatyionj about Dr M's criticisms against Pak Lah as "trials" to test the PM -- art thou serious, minSTER ZAM, suddenly you are of such liberal views the PM needs to be put to tests and trials?

I think it should the PM testing underlings like thee, No?

I belive the Sandywar is not over until the Fat Lady sings -- she chose to maintain silence, BUT she had not completely rebutted some allegations in the Approved Permis issue...raised not just by the EX-PM, but also many Malaysians (ref: Raja Petra's Mal;aysia-Today where Rafidah's niece played a sustantive role that wrecked Pronton's plan vis-a-vis Volkswage...we wait with bated breath; maybe Dr M won't be so patient!

i think i'm seeing and hearing factions....

Politician's comment are of course full of 'politically correct' (read: crap) comment and hardly touch the core issue.

I will just give it a pass as much as a 7 year old boy's!

Any misunderstandings, crimes, and atrocities, real as they are, are seldom committed out of any intent to be evil, but because of severe misinterpretations about the nature of good, and the means that can be taken towards its actualization.

Dr M, does the end justify the means in achieving your desires? Check out the 22 UNanswered questions to Mahathir at

The third party must be Pak Lah's own son-in-law lah, he he.

KJ staged a perfect coup detat. Only mahathir realised what had happened. The airlines, telecom companies, banks, proton, TNB are under his control without paying a cent. Why he even tried to upstage FAM. If Myteam had won, he would have half the nation firmly in his grasp. And he spent peanuts on this venture. It was sponsored.

The problem with KJ is that he tend to underestimate some people.

He underestimate Dr. M.

He also underestimate the national soccer team. If not, he could have offered them some 100,000 lots of ECM Libra shares (which he got for free) and MyTeam would have won hands down!

That's the difference between an old fox (like Dr. M) and a young chicko...(didnt cover all his grounds)

It is worth also noting here that the 2 statements of support for Dr M, from both D. Aziz Samsuddin, but more significantly and more sharply from the UMNO Seremban Ketua Bahagian, is that it was voiced following a not too subtle message from D.S. Najib that they are open to disciplinary actions for statements such as these against the Pak Lah administration.

The risk for the Pak Lah administration is that this may be an indication of a snowballing of dissent within the rank and file in UMNO. With Aziz, Ishak Ismail and previously Ali Al-Habshee, all Ketua Bahagians, voicing support for Dr M, the real powers to unseat the PM, the leadership of the UMNO delegates to the general assembly, have indicated that the ground, the grass-roots, are restless.

Also note that Zam was never a Dr M man. Zam is a Pak Lah man through and through, with Pak Lah moving fast to replace Tun Daim's man with Zam in Merbok when he came to power being indicative of this, in addition to Zam's pre-emminence now as the only Federal Minister from Kedah with the removal of Kadir Sheikh Fadzir from the cabinet. Much of Zam's +ve writtings of Dr M also occured when it suited his boss, when Pak Lah was DPM, to maintain the good grace of Dr M towards Pak Lah.

Najib said NO FACTION....

My bleeding foot told me this is another sandiwara...Ishak Ismail, the Seremban UMNO Head, is a greater supporter of Najib. Or is this the beginning of "doublespeak" syndrome.

Your comment on Zam makes me sit bolt upright. These politicians deserve to be sent to Bollywood.

since many realised that TDM is criticizing the wrong-doing of the current administration - of which still has a lot of members from TDM's generation

My own perception - that 'third party' is the person from someone's split character?

sorry for the radical statement
