'Saya akan cari sampai ke lubang cacing!'
UPDATED VERSION. "I will dig until I find the source of the worms!"
That's his vow today.
Dr Mahathir doesn't only want answers. He wants to right the wrongs.
So, he soldiers and battles on to out the 'Third Party' that "controls the Abdullah administration".
Target: "Orang yang belajar di Universiti Oxford... merchant banker? budak belum kering hingus..."
Islam Hadhari vs 'Islam Yang Satu'
A lot of Mahathir's talking points are expected to be blacked out by the mainstream media as he hit out at the core of Abdullah's religious posturing.
Mahathir didn't mince his words especially when he articulated his sceptical views of Islam Hadhari, during the Q&A session, awkwardly in the presence of PAS national leaders, who had openly renounced Abdullah's concept of 'Civilisational Islam'.
He argued that one can't interpret Islam and connote it as having an older and newer versions just because time has lapsed. He said, for him, there is only one Islam pillared on the Al-Quran and the Hadis. Quote:
"Jadi kita balik kepada Islam yang satu... tak payah le Hadhari ke tak Hadhari... Islam sesuai sepanjang zaman. Jangan ingat zaman Nabi saja... zaman sakarang sesuai. Kalau kita ikut tafsiran Al-Quran yang betul... ia sesuai untuk zaman seberapa moden sekalipun."
For himself, he said he will hold on to the original Islam since the time of Prophet Muhammad SAW, and will remain true to being an Islamic fundamentalist who reveres the Al-Quran, the Hadis and the Prophet. He emphasised that an Islamic fundamentalist must not be confused as a terrorist as often stereotyped by western thoughts.
Dr Mahathir's rejection of Abdullah's Islam Hadhari can be viewed in the video-clip on Malaysia-Today, from the 41:28th to 46:14th minutes. The transcript is also available on AgendaDaily.com.
Keep watching the live telecasts. The 'knock-out' round is now tersely playing.

Comments
Jeff,
Wrong translation..."lubang cacing is not source of the worms"
Remember when we were small kids, if we have "cacing" in our stomach, which hole will it come out?
The right translation should be "the a@@hole of the worms"...
JEFF OOI says: Sorry, I don't belong to your class, and I don't go for literal/direct translation. My flair is still influenced by the Queen's English. You, however, can go ahead with your bazaar version if that suits you well. Just don't pollute this blog of mine.

Alamak. What strange bedfellows politicans end up with!
Raja Petra organising a Dr M dialogue session. The same Raja Petra who was a guest of the SB for his activities and criticism in aid of Anwar, as director of the Free Anwar Campaign.
(And the same Raja Petra who came up with two versions of how he was treated by the SB and how he handled the treament - either he was macho and unbreakable or was reduced to a crying mess - depending on which version is the flavour of the day.)
But cutting through all the hot air and head-dizzying spin, I have to end up agreeing with the point made by Dr M about the [undue?] influence of the Oxford grad.

Clearly something need to be done to give TDM an "official" voice.
I would like to suggest an MP from either Barisan/Opposition to resign his seat and allow TDM to contest a by-election on an Independent ticket. Then we will get TDM to speak in Parliament again.
Any takers?

In my humble view,
1.TDM super angry with AAB for not hinting(to judges) that Anwar should have been locked up for ever.
2.Raja Petra AKA Anwar ardent supporter organising forum(s) for TDM to scold you knwo who.
3.My plea to Anwar is that if you want to be a truly great leader, look at ever green Mr Nelson Mandela, move on and work for the benefit of the people.Although I am not fully convinced about yr true color even at this stage, but I do belive that I have seen thro' the great TDM and the humble AAB.
4.But I fully support the Tun'e effort to make Malaysia a true model of transparency in South East Asia-that would be his lasting contribution to the whole region of 500 million people.

God&Priest writes....
When you talk about bullies, I am reminded of Kenny Roger’s song, The Coward of the County.
Now, little Tommy was 10 when his father died in prison and his uncle brought him up. Tommy’s father’s last words to his son — the words of a repentant father who died for his crimes — were:
Son, my life is over, but yours is just begun.
Promise me, son, not to do the things I’ve done.
Walk away from trouble if you can.
It won’t mean you’re weak if you turn the other cheek.
I hope you’re old enough to understand:
Son, you don’t have to fight to be a man.
And that is how Tommy led his life, walking away from trouble and the whole county called him "yellow", American for "chicken" or "coward".
But he found his true love in Becky and with her, the song goes, he never had to prove he was a man.
One day, the town bullies — the three Gatlin Boys — came to his home while he was away and they took turns at Becky.
Tommy came home to find Becky crying. The torn dress, the shattered look was more than he could stand.
He heard his father’s voice ringing in his ears again but he went to town, to the bar where the Gatlin Boys hung around.
The Gatlin Boys just laughed at him when he walked into the barroom.
One of them got up and met him halfway cross the floor.
When Tommy turned around they said, "Hey look! Ol’ yellow is leaving..."
But you could have heard a pin drop when Tommy stopped and locked the door.
Twenty years of crawlin’ was bottled up inside him.
He wasn’t holding nothing back; he let ’em have it all.
When Tommy left the barroom, not a Gatlin boy was standing
He said, "This one’s for Becky" as he watched the last one fall.
And I heard him say,
"I promised you, dad, not to do the things you’ve done.
I walk away from trouble when I can.
Now please don’t think I’m weak, I didn’t turn the other cheek,
And papa, I sure hope you understand:
Sometimes you got to fight when you’re a man."

/// Dr Mahathir doesn't only want answers. He wants to right the wrongs.///
Isn't this precisely what the current PM is trying to do? Trying to do what is right and undoing what was wrong? Righting the wrong doings of the past 22 years. Cutting back on the excesses of the past administration. The current PM may not be a medical doctor, but he is doing precisely what the real Doctor has been advocating (but never practising) - cutting off the gangrenous parts. And Proton is one such gangrene. The crooked bridge is another potential gangrene - thanks to the current PM, the frost bite was detected in time before it can become gangrenous and chopping off become more painful and drastic.
Or, does only Dr M have the monopoly to define what is right and what is wrong?

Yes it is supposed to be a crooked bridge,I fully agree.
But the aged doctor also informed us that it was the invisible hand of the holy son-in -law when billion dollar was affected and thus the project was cancelled, this AAB has to answer,is it true.we demand that with the other questions of TDM,answer him, answer us.
I believe that most of us believe that it was true which would not be allowed or tolerated post TDM.
I heard that the sons of TDM are billionaires which he attributed to their "brilliance in business",but I think many Malaysians would now not agree for the son,the son-in-law of AAB to be instant billionaires, never mind that we do not doubt they might be equally brillaint businessmen.

Yes, i agree the current PM need to chop, chop, chop...
First, he need to chop off those Oxbridge BRATS...
Second, he need to chop off "close-one-eye" pirates
Third, he need to chop off "keluar dari Malaysia" clowns...
and lastly, he need to chop off himself from the 5th floor....

PM's options?
Plenty.
i. Invoke a charge of corruption. Put the squeeze on the judiciary.
ii. Put pressure on the mass media. Like Bapa Malaysia, Bapa megaproject will fade away.
If the above fail, there is still operation lallang.
With the incumbent able to dangle out hundreds of billions of mouth watering ringgit under the 9MP, AAB will get the support he wants.
Decent people can be extremely vicious when come to protecting family. We have gone through this before.

It is really interesting to see you taking such a keen interest to the TUN although in a different angle unlike before. The event that he addressed sure have very strange bedfellows ...and the only one missing is Anwar Ibrahim himself. With all these "desperados" ..Ibrahim Katak too..he..he..he..I don't think we need to take TUN seriouly form not on. He just jumped into one of the many ???holes and becomes a DEsperados himself!

I thought it is a dialogue session and where people actually get to question Tun. Why is he allowed to perform his trademark cock-talking grandstanding? I agree that there are major wrongs with the current administration but but Tun is not the person we should rely on to right the wrong. Tun has grievances and he demand to be heard. We have many grievances too during his time but he never listens. What happen to the 20 something questions written by the Edge's P. Gunasegaran that are supposed to be posed to him at the dialogue?

Folks
As I mentioned many moons on this blog, the chicken has now come home to roost for the famous son in law
When you don't have age as a source of experience to exert your views and influence in affairs of govt just because (a)you are a deputy leader of a Head-Kicking youth arm of the ruling party , (b)having the PM as your father in law, you get yourself kick in the head and (c) you think you are head above shoulders of your UMNO peers with your Oxford degree, you get yourself kick in the head.
Coupled with the built-in greed environment of UMNO, you want to be active politically at the highest level and at the same time want to make your quick million dollar bucks in high flying corporate sector and using your ex-media cronies to prop you up, then you are par for the course, or as they say, you are a delicacy for lunch by the political vultures in UMNO.
When you are still wet-behind-the-ears with an Oxford degree, you always think you are cleverer than others, including making uncalled for remarks about other races during the school/education controversy and showing little regard and respect for the elders in other political parties in Barisan National.
And you are not even an MP, to boot.
Advice: Resign from the Deputy Youth Leader position and stay out of Pak Lah's ears and if you want to make a quick buck (in the millions), go and do it, but don't interfere with Govt policies, stop making press statements on BN policies...and stay out of sight of your father in law on matters of Govt policies.

I wonder if it is prudent for Dr M to criticise the religious stance and policies of Pak Lah. As the saying goes, "He who lives in glass houses..."
Still it is good that Dr M is pushing hard for anwsers to he major questions.
Pak Lah's elegant silence, while a wise step when confronted by a combative and pushy ex-PM, is not wise in my opinion when his ministers refuse to comply with his instructions to supply full answers.
Rafidah cannot be allowed to get away with her refusal to answer the questions about the AP allocations.
But then again who is Dr M to hurl more mud at Pak Lah for that situation?
After all, who was in charge of the nation, who was Rafidah's boss when the AP fiasco took place?
If anything, he should himself be pushed to provide much of the answer to the AP allocation question. (And MANY other similar questions.)
That situation, and his selective recall, leaves Dr M without much of a foot to stand on.

I remember about three years ago, a Malay person wrote to Malaysiakini and said something negative about Islam Hadhari. This prompted the police to start a manhunt on this guy him and he was finally checked out as a staff of the UKM Hospital. In the end, he had to make a public apology. Now if Mahathir was to have said something adverse about Islam Hadhari, will the government be doing the same thing to him as they did to that poor guy from UKM Hospital?

I think it's a rather pathetic sight to see people singing Mahathir's praises. Somehow he managed to create the mass illusion that Malaysia was "modernized" under his admin. Well, one look at our neighbours - Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and you will see that they modernized faster and better than we did. It's an Asian phenomenon and certainly one which Mahathir should not get credit for. One thing he succeeded in doing - making Malaysians dependent on mega projects. Well I for one am happy these mega projects have stopped. I'd rather a first world mentality than mega projects. I'd rather money spent on building a super efficient public transport system and proper urban planning for KL than a band-aid measure like Putrajaya. I'd rather have an open and transparant tender process than awarding of satellite TV license to Ananda Krishnan. I'd rather have an empowered judiciary and an independent and thinking media than something silly like being able to boast of watching 64 world cup matches live on Astro. I like that the GLCs, including Malaysia Airlines which is on its way to profitability and Telekom are getting serious about performance. I like that things are becoming more open and scandals like Ani Arope/TNB/IPPs, Project Mahathir Illegal IC For Filipinos in Sabah, Halim Saad/Tun Daim/Metramac, Anwar Ibrahim's 100 million suit, are coming into the open. Taken together, then you will see why Mahathir is attacking this administration - his legacy is being put on trial for the rakyat to judge.

Yes Banjaran it not just the mega projects.
In fact I would rather the government spend more money on maintenance to upkeep the environment, infrastructure etc. Here we can see more money distributed fairly.

TDM raised two interesting points. One- he asked AG to commenced prosecution against someone for corruption before his retirement but AG didn't do it. ( So AG is ether trully independant or beholden to the PM of the day. AG should clarify what TDM alleged)
Secondly, PM went back on his word withing two weeks of assuming his post. So looks like TDM is genuinely concerned about something.
Anyone got a clue?

Datuk Seri Abdullah should concentrate upon what he wants to do (even though they come from his advisers) as far as public events are concerned, take it for granted that sometimes even men are wiser than they know
Isn’t the current PM doing precisely what he is asking? Righting his (Tun’s) wrong doings!
Check out also his tirade against Tun Musa being “really sick” and his boast that Petronas “just give me money” as the advisor without asking – Malaysiakini at

HaHaHa,
The following stntence from TDM is particular hilarious hilarious.
An aide to the prime minister declined to comment on Saturday on Mahathir's latest outburst, in which Mahathir portrayed the cabinet as dancers and wondered aloud who was calling the tune.
"They are like a chorus line. They are all dancing. When one kicks, all will kick. They are like the Rockettes," he said.
Imagine the press report thus:
""My ministers are like a chorus line. They are all dancing. When one kicks, all will kick. They are like the Rockettes," PM DR.M said
Would any one dare to challenge me that AAB's ministers are almost identical to TDM's ministers,it is almost an exact copy,am I right?
Posted by: DELL
|
June 25, 2006 09:25 PM
Rockettes-like ministers? Is that a key characteristic of graduates of the Mahathir minister training school?
There were a few "drop-outs" who did not kow-tow in step with the rest. A couple of ex-DPMs come to mind.
But surely the master should be able to recognise his handiwork?

This part is very damaging to AAB abd his son-in-law.
Quote
"But he(TDM) added that he did not believe Malaysia had called off the talks simply because of public opposition to the trade-off of selling sand to Singapore.
Tun Dr Mahathir said that Singapore had wanted Malaysia to sell 1 billion cu m of sand over 20 years in exchange for its agreement to build the bridge.
He said it was clear that someone would benefit greatly from the contract to supply sand.
Even if sand was sold at just RM1 (44 Singapore cents) per cubic metre, the total price would be RM1 billion, he said.
Thus, when the sand trade-off was no longer possible because of public opposition, the government lost interest
Unquote
I belive that even Ex-DPM Anwar,at the height of his crisis, has not made such serious allegation against the children of TDM.
AAB cannot miantain silence, because his own credibility has been called into question by no less then the guy who appointed him to the Lumber Satu post
AAB,this one you have to handle by yrself, please, not delegation to ministers,it is not allowed.
