The reference text: Global Strike: A Chronology of the Pentagon's New Offensive Strike Plan, March 15, 2006. (Download PDF here, 250pages, 4MB.)

Peace_AntiPeace.jpgAccording to Nukestrat.com, at the end of September 2006, the US Joint Functional Component Command for Space and Global Strike is scheduled to achieve Full Operational Capability (FOC). That event builds on Global Strike capabilities developed over many years to provide new offensive strike options to the US President against proliferators of weapons of mass destruction.

The chronology contained in the booklet lists the most important of the developments that led to the creation of the Pentagon's newest and most offensive strike plan. Although Global Strike is primarily a non-nuclear mission, the information collected for this chronology reveal that nuclear weapons are surprisingly prominent in both the planning and command structure for Global Strike.

The roots of the nuclear option in Global Strike go back more than a decade to the early 1990s, where military planners and policy makers gradually began to broaden the scope of U.S. nuclear strategy to incorporate missions against proliferators armed with weapons of mass destruction. Yet the nuclear counterproliferation mission was controversial because it appeared to broaden rather than reduce the role of nuclear weapons.

The attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon in September 2001 removed those constraints and led to the formulation of new guidance that has spawned a highly offensive Global Strike mission with prompt or even preemptive strike planning against imminent threats anywhere on (and under) the face of the Earth.

The operational embodiment of the Global Strike mission is CONPLAN 8022, the detailed strike plan directed against proliferation targets in North Korea, Iran, and elsewhere. First operational in 2004, refinement of CONPLAN 8022 continues.

Read it. Much of the information was painstakingly obtained under the Freedom of Information Act. The threat looks real.

Rocky Bru (the blogger) and Bernama have the story on this morning's event.

Lets get our house in order first and stop preaching others. "Criminalise discrimination, STOP Racism in Malaysia"

JEFF OOI says: Wouldn't this be the job of the Government in power? The Peace Forum organisers are NGOs.

"The operational embodiment of the Global Strike mission is CONPLAN 8022, the detailed strike plan directed against proliferation targets in North Korea, Iran, and elsewhere."

Wait just a minute. Whats wrong again with striking nuclear weapons production sites in Iran and North Korea?

People who claim to want "peace" should be fully behind any plan to disarm North Korea or Iran.

JEFF OOI says: The colder facts are: ( 1 ) All 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council with veto-power account for 85% of world production and sales of arms; ( 2 ) there are now over 10,000 nuclear weaponry in the hands of the Nuclear Club (US, UK, France, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Israel) which, by Hiroshima standard, the world would have died 14 times over. Source: Nuclear Policy Research Institute (NPRI).

Phoenikz: "People who claim to want "peace" should be fully behind any plan to disarm North Korea or Iran."

The same can be said about the US.

There is some thing that I really, really do not understand and it sure shows how stupid is that cow boy President Bush Junior is.

Bush Junior is so worried about that crazy mad chairamn Kim of North Korea would drop some nuclear bombs soon that he went around the globe begging people to help him to CONTAIN mad Chairman Kim,is it necessary?but let's face it,why he should he be worried.

The bombs, should they be ever dropped, would first target at Japan, then South Korea, and affect Communist China, then affect Russia, then affect South East Asia, and the rest,Bush Junior has probably failed in his high school geography.

No doubt,Uncle Sam has world class technology and top brain, but some times you cann't help but see that they are really simpletons.

JEFF OOI says: Alsdo consider another carrots or war-looting. Iran is bathed in oil. North Korea...?

Jeff,

Seriously I think Communist China should be very worried that Mad chairman Kim would drop the nuclear bombs at their border, then all bets are off for the tremendous development of socialist economy of the great motherland, shouldn't they.

In my typical China man thinking,if I were to be the Nomber Satu leader of the world,I would secretly encourge chairman Kim to pretend that he is going to deop some bombs anytime soon, and I bet we can all see the great ruch of the Communists fr China to contain him

Bush Junior is a simpleton!

No?

"All 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council with veto-power account for 85% of world production and sales of arms"

Sales of arms, but to who? The vast majority of arms sales are to other nations such as ours, and there is nothing particularly wrong with that.
On the other hand, North Korea is well known for dealing in arms with anyone who has the cash to pay for it. Its not about the weapons - its about WHO you sell the weapons to.
Malaysia is planning to order a large quantity of assault rifles from the US to replace the Steyr - I suppose that's evil in your book too eh Jeff.

"there are now over 10,000 nuclear weaponry in the hands of the Nuclear Club"

And so far, not a single one of those nuclear bombs have been used on a target, even when faced with a conventional war (especially in the case of Israel, who were faced with near annihilation in 72 yet showed incredible restrain in stopping short of nuking Cairo and Damascus) - testament to the fact that most of the owners of nuclear weapons are stable, progressive, democratic nations.

JEFF OOI says: Obviously, you didn;t download the 250-page PDF to read for facts before you fired from thehip... and recalled, conditioned memory.

This, unfortunately does not fit the description of both Iran, a country ruled by mad fundamentallist mullahs, and North Korea, a failed state ruled by a despot who has been proven to be selling anything, from drugs to weapons, to anyone, for money.

I find it ludicrous that Mahathir Mohammad is a member of the so-called "Peace Forum" when he himself urged Muslims to develop weapons. What a joke!

JEFF OOI says: Omar Khayyam said about this human fallacy, which I quoted here. You are missing his observation by a 1,000 years.

You should judge only the Dr.M of yesterday and not the Dr M of today,he appears to be a changed man,of course stripped of his official power.

I would prefer to give him a chance and see what he is up to,new king of transparency in Malaysia.

Isn't the Freedom of Information Act great ? It allows Joe Public (in the US) to access this.

No way we can get this kind of info on what our Mindef or similar depts are doing.

First World vs Third World.

And yet, we bash the US !!! Better the transparent devil than the waying kulit. That way, you know what to expect.

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
