No sacking

UPDATED VSERSION. Parti Gerakan chief Dr Lim Keng Yaik said Saturday that Dr Mahathir won't be sacked by his party, Umno.

It turned out to be true after Umno Supreme Council met for three hours this morning. Umno deputy chief and head of disciplinary committee Najib Abdul Razak announced the outcome, reading from a short, prepared text. The party stands firmly behind Abdullah.

Was it a Hobson's choice for Umno? James Wong says yes.

End of story? Ask Husam, who told Malaysiakini that his "pre-emptive statement can be deemed successful because Umno has had to change its initial plan (to sack Mahathir) over the past few days".

Husam insisted: "Mahathir can now continue to speak out openly about the government.”

Reactions from some Umno leaders

Meanwhile, Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin (ZAM) said today that Dr Mahathir’s remarks about Abdullah should be viewed by the people as positive criticism.

"The leadership of every nation undergoes trials and the Prime Minister takes responsibility in handling these trials." He said Mahathir's criticisms were meant to test the prime minister as part of the nation's leadership development in line with Malaysia's transition to a developed and highly regarded nation.

But Rafidah Aziz doesn't seem to be willing to answer further questions on the AP controversy, one of the key issues that irked Mahathir.

when Tunku sacked Tun..he had nothing that that Tun could use against him.

But now Tun has plenty of files and knows too much after 22 years. and those who dared vote for the sacking will not sleep easy. Tun has still many "spies' working for him inside UMNO. He knows who are the back stabbers.

It was a foregone conclusion he will not be sacked. What choice does AAB have?

Now it will be worse for AAB, you can criticise like hell and get away with it. So if other members do the same as Tun and using this as a precedent, AAB can just watch.

And who will be the happiest guy. Must be the back stabber.

So what happens now?

The PM has said that the govt ministers will answer Dr M's questions, but Rafidah has now said "no more explanation on the issue of Approved Permit".

What will Pak Lah do about that?

I would certianly like to have the many questions surrounding the AP scheme answered. Was there any meat to the allegations aand rumours?

If not for his selective recall and apparent denial of certain events and facts, I suppose I should be somewhat thankful to Dr M for pushing for answers to the many questions bothering us today.

But now push, push, push, and the "300 lb gorilla" says no.

Will Pak Lah sack her? I think not.

UMNO sandiwara will not save the country economy. KLSE just fell near 4 points, closing 889.51.

2 min PM Q & A after meeting:
What if Mahathir is still unhappy with the government’s replies to his
questions?

PM reply: "We will leave it as it is. We try our best to explain, if ..Tun still unhappy, what can we
do? But we will give full explanations"

Dr Mahathir's actions have been severely criticised by some Malaysian leaders and many Malaysians.

"He used to advise me, don't throw stone in a glass house. Now he's throwing not just a stone but a big one in the glass house," said Zahid Hamidi, Malaysian Deputy Information Chief.

................

May be Zahid Hamidi is wrong again this time, it is not a big stone but a loose cannon.

this is a worse drubbing for aab than the serbs were given by the argentinians. in football language, 7 or 8-0, in m's favour. if aab tak caya, tanyalah khairy.

buat post-mortem, pm-ku. buang yang keruh (your coaches, ie khairy&kal; rafidah, nazri, syed hamid, dll) dan ambillah yang jernih (cuti panjang atau doctorate in speaking).

kita belajar dari kesilapan.

But our PM Datuk Seri Abdullah is a pragmatist. There are truths which are unchanging. But pragmatists do not believe in unchanging truths. All things, to the pragmatist, are changing; even truths.

Being fully aware of the enormous burden the mega projects would drained the country’s resources he did the proper thing to stop them. So the Mahathir’s “truths”or beliefs are changed and this makes him unhappy.
