RM4.4b subsidy: 'Score Me' lah

Aisehman does his maths.

  1. Urban transportation: Acquire 51% stake in MTrans Transportation Systems Sdn Bhd for RM30 million.
  2. Railway upgrades: Acquire a five-year contract from KTM to "overhaul and maintain" as many as 1,000 wagons for potential revenue of RM50 million.
  3. Bus upgrades: Bid for a RM120 million contract "to make body parts for about 400 buses for state-owned Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd".

The 24-page booklet, entitled Fuel Hike: Truth & Questions, comes complete with background on the matter and up-to-date figures from recent government reports.

The booklet not only scrutinises the government management of Petronas’ earnings -- note that Petronas' profits has been rising in tandem with soaring global crude oil prices-- it also probes deeply the government's advice to the public to ‘change lifestyle’.

It is argued within the booklet that almost two-thirds of the Malaysian public will not be able to ‘change lifestyle’ because they are earning RM2,000 and less.

The booklet concludes with a nagging poser:

The question is, how well will the public transport system be managed if the whole operation is monopolised by children of ministers. Will it succeed in being implemented completely and giving the best quality of services as hoped for by the public, or conversely bring complications?”

4.4B? didnt our PM said the 4.4B is gone due to further increase in oil price last couple of weeks. haha... it is so easy for them to get away. So now the improvement of public transport has to rely on private institution initiative.. PM has washed his hand clean.

As I predicted, by the way they protest about the petrol hike, it is just merely waste of time. It is only 2 months, I bet everybody has more or less accepted the petrol price hike and forget about this issue. No wonder the kerajaan has no fear to do anything they like, they already know nothing can go wrong in this country. I can only pray for this country and my children that they can still live a decent live in time to come. Who cares about this Jeff? As you can see, we Malaysian will close our eyes on all these, you will have hundreds of comments if it touches anything about race and religion.

how can the 4.4billion be gone due to the rising oil price?

The price of petrol was raised 30 cent and that was before the ringgit strenghten against the US dollar, the USD was 3.7 then. Now it is 3.68 and bank negara said that its going to strenghten more gainst the greenback in a few months time.

Technically speaking, the total saving is actually more than 4.4 billion. so, if there is no more 4.4billion for the transport industry, at least there should be 2 billion or 1.

joejak,

Do you know why the fuel hike protest is a waste of time? It is because most Malaysians will think like you. That is why the government is not afraid to misbehave. Just look at our neighbour Thailand, if we were to protest like them, at least BN will start listening to us.

Well, since most Malaysians are too coward to voice their opinions, they deserve the current government's behaviour.

Btw, government's gain from Petronas is much higher than they fork out for petrol subsidy since the fuel hike, but they never tell you that. They will just tell you that more petrol hike will wipe out the savings, so as to clean their hand to calculate their dirty cash from Petronas. So where have the tax from Petronas gone to? Go and read "Fuel Hike: Truth & Questions". Hahaha...

Although we care, i don't think anyone of us would dare to actually fight all the way. It is not that we're afraid but most of us would have too much to lose if our efforts fail.

We have many other commitments to tend to. We can't just risk everything in our attempt to make this country a better place as there are many hurdles to overcome and there are many who do not wish to see the country change as they fear that they would not be able to continue earning millions, if not billions, from the inefficiencies and corruptions that plague our current government.

All we can hope for right now is for the opposition parties to get their act together as they might stand a chance in the next election. I pray to god that this current selfishness and stupidity will end.

a few questions I'd like answered are:

they say 4.4 billion for public transportation improvement, yet not all of that money is listed. Why? Was it used to pay back the contractors for the Singapore bridge?

Or was it used for MAS?

Also, when can we expect to see results of this "improve-public-transport" policy?

and finally, why is it the intro price of biodiesel is higher that that of regular diesel?

I had the opportunity to conduct an interview with the CEO of SMRT about a month plus ago.

Interestingly, she's (yea she's female) a Malaysian. Maybe we can lure her back to fix our extremely screwed up LRT system

The main reason this government is behaving like this is because the ISA and OSA are protecting them. That's why. Nothing else!

what we need to do is to vote bn out. if everyone of us work hard to educate our friend and family to go against bn, then i am sure someday we will see some result.

i never vote for bn for the last 4 election, i never believed in them

I recalled saying that the money 4.4b will be used to pay 'these guys' for 9MP.

Its the same things hapening.

Anyway, chances is that we cant stop this but we could demand the best of qualities for what its worth. If we all bombard with snail mails cc to the press, we could see some progress.

But Im sad to say that the only way we could see quality is after 2007 when forigners are allowed to compete in projects. So for now lets enjoy the Kathmandu bus rides & watch cocunut fall.

Dear Rosman:

BN will never be booted out.

Even wonder why the Banci was done in the 90's?

Its used to find the demographics of the race based population along with other nonsense.

Hence, a place with higher income with 50,000 people will consist of chinese would be represented by 1 MCA or DAP nominee but a kampong with barely 5000 people would be represented with a BN nominee. Then these places will be splited to 2 to allow 2 BN nominees to win.

So, the amount of people voted against BN is quite high (as its not in ratio with the seats the won), but they will always loose because the field is not level.

To Me, frankly, I dont care where the money is going, Its definately not going to my pocket. I just want to have a decent public transport comparable with Singapore.

This is my statistic:

1. Sunway - Puchong : 45 mins (10 km)

2. Sunway - Damansara : 55 mins. (15 +/- km)

3. Sunway - KL : 1:25 mins

4. Sunway - Klang : 5.3 hours (during flood)

* this is of cos the worse I have been through, theres always quicker times.

I Want this at any peak time:

1. Sunway - Puchong : 10 mins (10 km)

2. Sunway - Damansara : 15 mins. (15 +/- km)

3. Sunway - KL : 20 mins

4. Sunway - Klang/ Shah Alam : 20 mins

Is 1 min per KM hard to ask during peak hours?

If BN cant widen the roads, then make LRTs & trains that could do the job.

I say BN can be booted out or at least unseat as many of their candidates as possible. Then they will be less daring with over budget projects and arrogant.

Do you know that among the young professionals, many said they voted BN because BN is the lesser of two evils or at least the evil they know. God bless Malaysia if they prefer the shit they are getting now. Btw, what more do we have to lose now by trying out the oppositions? We are already at our losing limit.

If you want to know how much we had lost, try imagining where Malaysia will be today if we have the efficiency of Singapore. Do remember that Singapore has no natural resources. We should be few times better off than Singapore. But look where are we as compared to Singapore in just 40 years period!!! Haven't we lost enough?

Chinese? Malay? Indian? Dont put race into election though it does makes the different. My family actually managed to tell few people what's government had actually propaganded the media and they actually voted against BN. Whatever their race, people can be waken from the propaganda hypnotism.

I am voting for either PAS or KEADILAN next election. What's the worst that could happen?

The country is already quite shitty (excuse the language) rite now. The government is extremely complacent and won't even bother to listen to the voters because there's no competition to keep them on their toes.

Year after year we've voted BN into power and have been putting up with their bullshit. Shouldn't there be a prerequisite for a person to become a politician? Why do we have to elect and tolerate stupid ppl with stupid and selfish decisions that do not benefit the ppl? I believe that we do have PhD holders from reputable institutions but they will never be given a chance to lead the country. The politics in this country is too dirty and most of the time dumbfounding for them to even bother to attempt to make a difference. Their time would be better spent elsewhere.

A country is like a business and there's no doubt that our country will fail if there's no change for the better. All one needs is common-sense to realise this.

PAS, BN, Keadilan same lar.

Who was it that said divorce woman gatal?

I agree with spaceman when he mentioned about the ratio of MP vs voters thingy. It's called gerrymeddling, and time after time the EC does the "re-delination" exercise, they are actually working overtime to ensure BN do not loose by when the next GE comes around. It's just too obvious the so called independent EC is not so independent afterall.

As for the rest, I could only pity those, regardless of race, who are low income earners suffers more because of the rising living cost caused by the BN government, who has absolutely without shame in screwing the rakyat. They champion for the poor Malays, yet after getting all the mandates, they turn around by screwing them over and over again through corruption, cronyism etc. The best part (or worst) is these poor people will continue to thank BN for doing so! While these poor people continue to suffer in poverty, those BN fat cats continue to fatten their families, friends, relatives & themselves! Unbelivable! Belive it!

Frankly I don't mind the price hike, as long as it comes back to the people. The problem is when the 4.4 billion (or more) is being hijacked to bail out incompetent fellas like MAS. Price hike had to come, we have to stop subsidising petrol, it's too expensive. It's only when it's used to subsidise PM's cronies that we should be marah. Then again, our position on the transparency index is so low anyway we should take it as a given that it's going to enrich some fat cats further, so we should protest anyway! :) I haven't read Aisehman's booklet yet,

JEFF OOI says: I am sorry of my blog entry has given rise to vonfusion Aisehman was the author of the price hike booklet, which he wasn't.

but if he is protesting against the price hike itself, I think he's got hold of the wrong issue. I'll take a read first anyway...!
