Internet connectivity... multiple woes

I appreciate that Streamyx Semarak and Brickfields, and TM Wholesale at USJ and Streamyx contractor Malappan's team are working with me to monitor network performance and overall Internet link quality to overseas sites in the last 48 hours. I must say I really appreciate their phone calls and tolerating my frank feedback.

It's now established that Streamyx had experienced an unrecoverable error on its e-mail server on March 30, 2006, and a network maintenance exercise was carried out from 12.00am through 2.00pm yesterday.

That's why I got back my connectivity last night.

On behalf of many others who experienced similar difficulty and have now recovered their connectivity, I want to say a big THANK YOU to you guys at Streamyx! In the entire value chain, I understand there are many components that are beyond TM Net's control.

But I hope VADS, which runs TM Net'sCall Centre, will either shape up or ship out soon. I have articulated the reasons earlier.

Please vet VADS' performance

I initiated a complaint docket with the call centre (1300-88-9515) run by VADS on March 30 after failing to get through the line for two days -- I hanged up after tolerating for over 10 minutes of the IVR on each occassion -- and was given a report number (#1240434). Thus far, nobody from the Call Centre had bothered to give a status update though the case has been escalated to multiple departments for total resolution.

VADS, as the one-stop centre for TM Net's customer satisfaction, should know that the onus is on them to give the grieving customers a status update so long as the case remains pending. They CANNOT close the docket the docket unilaterally without give the grieving customer a status report.

Or else, being a GLC's, TM and VADS are making a mockery out of the 'First World Mentality' that Pak Lah is trying to sell so hard.

That much about my kind words for VADS for running a shoddy Call Centre for TM Net. Shape out of ship out, I repeat.

» TMnet and Online Gaming from Volume of Interactions
TMnet's current problems have caused a world of hurt to online gamers like myself. The following are my experiences. I live in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, the online games i play most frequently are World of Warcraft (WoW) and Counter-Strike:... [Read More]

That's one issue that they should deal with - the "closing" of cases when nothing has been done.

I made some 10++ reports, each time they said someone will get back to me, someone will call me, bla bla, fat chance... and when I called back a week or 2 later, they would have closed the report.

Is VADS a private company or does it belonged to TM? If it is a private company, shouldn't the onus be on TM to terminate their inconsistent and inefficient services?

VADS belongs to TM if im not mistaken.

VADS is Telekom left pocket. TMNET is TELEKOM right pocket. This is like family business and the elder brother said the younger brother having problem. For me, it's the whole business having problem.

Wah if I were as famous as you ah jeff I would've just say LETS GIVE AN F TO THEM :D

I don't think the problem is solved. You may have the connection, but you don't have the stable connectivity. Mine (Puchong area) has connection but very slow. Cannot still send a mail attachment with just 30k size.

Same here. I am in Puchong (Puchong Utama) area facing similar problem as well. It is been more than one week! There is connection but opening webpages is slower than dial up. Packet drop all the time. Filed complaint and TMNut gave me same lame reason (Check hardware, check OS, etc, blablabla) really "First Class" service..TM, opening "possibilities" indeed..

Jeff, its quite a privilege to be famous person, got so many of the TMnet teams to solve the problem for you. I think most of us not so lucky. In Cheras, connection is not stable at all. Connection keep disconnecting, really frustrating. Also like others, complaint many times but the VAD people were not helpful at all.

JEFF OOI says: First and foremost, the fact that I highlighted the issue in my blog, it's public, it's not to resolve just my individual problem. It's for the general public. But since I move around my neighbourhood likethe backof my backyard, I tend to understand the problems in my area better than the rest. I might not as well versed with topography and people network as well in Cheras or elsewhere in the country. Secondly, be nice to people, and you will get help in times of need. I reckon, my friends in TM Net were friends indeed as they have collaborated to help me out, a hopeless addict to Internet.

The connection at my area (Seri Kembangan) still goes like yo-yo till today. Really high timed-out errors. TMNet is now blaming on their Technical Trial Exercise:

At the 1st place, why are they doing trial on live traffic?

I am in Klang! I have 2 --- (HEY TM-STUPID-NET - It's TWO!!!) Streamyx Accounts and this week, I have to put up with my 56K dial up modem. This is bloodily stupid. What about TMNET refunds this month's subscription?? There is no fricking service that is being provided this week

besides that, everytime when I am connected to 1515, my connection frequently gets disconnected.
by right that stupid tmnet should reimburse me for my usage of 1515..... i don't use 1515 anymore! I only use streamyx...
INI LAH CONTOHNYA - MALAYSIA BOLEH

I am sorry to have said that but TMNet really didnt give me a good impression at all since the very beginning. The retailer that they sent me didnt manage to fix my connection when I first started using Streamyx. I paid 3months for nothing. I wasnt in Malaysia for a month and the retailers never even follow up. They came 2 or 3 times before I my departure but still didnt manage to fix the problem. Then, I made many complaints to TmNet, they only refunded me RM80+ after 6months. Well, better than nothing! But now, got connection but very unstable, in full agreement with patriotic1994. If only another company is providing broadband connection with slightly better service, I will definitely subscribe it even if they are charging at higher price.

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
