Internet connectivity... Day 7 and totally dead

My home Streamyx was half-dead for five days. It's now totally dead, and today my Internet woes had reached Day 7.

By Day 7, God had completed creating Earth and rested on Sabbath.

GOD bless you...

Sometimes I think we are living in the world where the tail is wagging the dog.

The head says one thing and the tail goes and do something opposite. LKY is talking about 25% broadband penetration and 100MB transmission but the tail won't even service the present customers.

Jaring broadband is still a dream. We should get a smartass entrepreneur to wimax the country and see TM's last mile assets turn to dust.

same case here. i made 3 calls to custcare only to be told the same old story, the tech ppl are working on it and shld be back online by MOnday nite. I will take thier word with a pinch of salt. wrtoe in to custcare asking for a rebate for non-delivery of service. Wasted my call charges and am now using dial-up and hv to pay for it! I need to screw someone badly. Any idea who? Gv me their respective names n tel no and i will gv them a pc of my mind.

Well...having service TM group previously...I do not really blame the TM people or the customers. It just that the whole TM organization structure kinda sucks... Though TM Net seems to be the main channel to contact for STreamyx problem but in actual fact it was TM Wholesale (who provide the broadband service to TM Net) is the main technical support, of which the customers will never be able to see them. So TM Net will rely on TM WHolesale to fix the problem...therefore, they can only give their answers based on some FAQ documents. Too many divisions, too many heads...all going in a different directions...what to do...

Maybe u can try to send e-mail to lim@ktak.gov.my. I am doubt that he will read your e-mail and most probably it will be filtered out.

While waiting for normalcy to return, take comfort we're not alone in other aspects...

Lucky that none of us are Gods too. Otherwise I bet Jeff would disintegrate TMnet first before fixing his connection...

just kidding jeff

Tsk, Tsk, Tsk.

By day 6, all was already created. God rested on the seventh day. But lets not split hairs over one day.

So, you will get your answer on day 8 -- TM does not work on Saturdays and Sundays, if they can help it. Come to think of it, TM don't work any days at all....

And when you call them to complain, they make you wait forever, ringing up the call charges as well. They even tell you , 'Your call is important to us'. Yeah it's great business... Heads they win, tails you lose. More monopolies, anyone?

Remember 1996? Internet was a priviledge, to me at least.

I feel like I'm back in the 90s.

the problem with this country is the below-par public services, include internet provided by GLCs.

The mentality is kind of like "suka suka- then- ON" services, as express in buses, taxis, rail, road light etc., make worse by overstaff entities.

maybe another fuel hike can help msians in getting a better internet connectivity. we really need a super fast internet HIGHWAY ~ that works!

TM Net cakap:
"Ubah gaya hidup!"

U guys really wanna know why ah?

Because later when Samy Vellu wanna retire, they'll put Samy in charge of our information superhighway needs, and he'll start charging tolls for international connection. That's the govt's hidden plan, no really!

Guys and Dolls,
This is what happens when a country has a more than 70 year old and another that consistently invokes divine blessings to justify her hanging on, in its Cabinet!!

Hi Jeff,

I did have the same problem last week after a very heavy storm. It started with frequent disconnection then no connection at all. After almost 1 week waiting (since tues 28 Mac) with numerous call to streamyx, finally the TM staff came on Saturday, only to confirm that my modem has shorted. The reason they said might be because lightning. There was a very heavy storm on monday night.

I was a little surprised as I just bought the modem last month to change an older one which was most likely struck by lightning also (the older one lasted for 2 1/2 years).

Also, I was not the only one, there were several other users facing the same problem last week. I met two people at the repair shop alone all bringing their modems for warranty.

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
