Fuel Price Protest: Round 2?
It seems there is a Round 2 to the peaceful protest over fuel price increase at Dataran KLCC after lunch tomorrow. This time, protestors are expected to stage a sit-in for two in the shadows of the iconic 88-story Petronas Twin Towers - provided the Police do not disrupt it.
According to Malaysiakini, the protestors have been asked to bring their pots, pans and cooking utensils to signify that the government has ‘thrown sand into the people’s rice bowl’ with the sharp hike in fuel prices of between 18.5 and 23 percent.
Leading the pack are said to be PAS deputy chief Nasharuddin Mat Isa, and Youth Chief Salehudin Ayub; and flanked by KeADILan leaders Azmin Ali and Shamsul Iskandar.
Some called it a 'Walkabout with the Rakyat', but Nasharuddin said the new motto is ‘Protes Sampai Turun’ (Protest till prices drop).
Not sure if OKT will take the LRT there at about the same time.
Comments
LOLZ
btw, it'd cool to read the news like:
"Meanwhile, during the lunch hour, OKT and other MCA members had chosen to take LRT to avoid the jam."

What are they trying to achieve? From what I saw the last protest, they threatened the Govt to reduce back the price hike. Who in the right mind would listen to them and take them seriously?
Anyway, the Opposition leaders should organize a proper forum with the public (since they're organizing the protests instead), to discuss the issues to be brought up to a discussion with the Govt, or directly to the PM. Isn't that a better approach?
Or is it that the Opposition would rather "make a scene" for the foreign media to highlight about the Govt's actions? Oppositions' actions confuses me sometimes...

Vertebrato,
Even better would be:
"LRT service suspended during lunch hour, to cater for VIP transit service to OKT and gang"

I'm still waiting for a protest sponsored by "the rakyat" instead of associating it with some party. THAT would be interesting.

I'll start one C-Fu... protest (sponsored by Rakyat) against the protests sponsored by political parties..

Hmmm Walkabout with the rakyat with a fanatic party!!
omg I rather pay RM 3.00 a litre car fuel increase than have that fanatical party to be the government
Why Keadilan want to be associated with them I totally don't understand.

I suspect all these so called "Leaders" simply have to much time but nothing to do.
They to be no avail, wasting so much time on this kind of monkey show. They shld put in more time&effort on their works for higher productivities and read more to improve their knowledge and english language.
Once they got their value enhanced and i believe it will justify every single reason for them to ask for higher pay and bonuses.By then, they won't be bothered with fuel subsidies.
To make the ruling party shaken,i think we need a charismatic leader like Thai's Major Gen Chamlong Srimuang but i see none of them has the qualities.

A suggestion to Pak Lah's administration.
1. Abolish roadtax for motorcycles, low CC - individual owned vehicles.
2. Then, maintain and increase roadtax for non-individual owned cars.
Perhaps this can slightly benefit the lower income vehicle owner from the RM0.3 per litre fuel hike.

Good try durkheim1,
1.But the road tax for a small car doesn't cost that much.Rd tax for a 1.5L Wira is ard RM200++ and even lower for a Produa.I think it is still affordable n doesn't help much, car insurance premium is the killer.
2.Those co directors xpecially listed firms' one, take their co owned cars for granted.Who will care how much the co paying for road tax?Let me share a classical case, there was a listed firm sold its co car to the director at a nominal RM1.At the end of day, shareholders xpecially those retirees who bought these companies' shares with their hard earned life savings.

That’s the problem with we Malaysian…we’ve been thought from small to stay away from trouble, be tolerable, even it if means letting the guy beside you step on your toes, so that everything will be peaceful and fine.
Well, in my opinion a little trouble here and there is good for the nation….is would make the leaders of the country think twice or even a hundred times before making any decision, because they know that whatever decisions they make, there will be reaction/ consequences from the public.
People in develop Nations do it.. so why not we?
It’s a pity that the opposition party in this country isn’t strong enough to keep the government on its toes. Imagine the opposition party running this country…no way man...they too are a bunch of Idiots. I think the problem is that the people running the government have become too complacent, wining elections after elections.
I guess its time now for us to stand up as one and show that we can’t be taken for a ride no more. It is time that we start changing Malaysia so that our future generation would have the most wonderful place to live in.
I have started a group to help us unite and come up with ways to improve things around us, and if you feel that you want a change you are most welcomed to join and share your ideas and thoughts. Please remember this ain’t a political neither a movement to cause any form of trouble. Its just a venue for us citizens to provide constructive criticism/ ideas to help the government carry out its duties better, free from any political influences.
Its not about fuel prices, its not about escalating cost of living (both are something you can’t run away from)….its about setting things right. It’s about making sure that monies spent by the govt are for the good of the nation and not a select few. Its about making sure we progress as a nation and one day be referred to as a one of the world’s superpowers.
You wanted a political free place to share your ideas, now you’ve got it.
The decision is yours.

It is better to have a useless monkey than to vote for a fanatic monkey..

Ah Rosman,
To me,they were not "Bravely" as u described but they seemed to be "Blindly" used by their "Opportunist leaders" that trying to be "Hero Bangsa & Negara".
I just find it funny how they suddently made their balls so hard? Where were these people during XPM's era?

Thanks Teh-O,
Thats the reasons to my suggestion (to re-cap):-
1. abolish roadtax for small cars
-> like you said it doesnt cost much, then by all means abolish it altogether for low CC car owners
-> small cars owner insurance not that high
-> will directly improve sales of national cars of lower CC, hence benefit Proton & Perodua
2. Increase roadtax for big cars and non-individual owned cars.
-> they can afford
-> they use co. cars (especially Sdn Bhd business) for personal use and charge it to co's account
-> only top guns benefits from co car.
All in all, its just like Robin Hood, take from the rich and give to the poor. But Pak Lah, pls no more than RM0.3 per litre fuel increase next year. Thanks.
