Splitting hair and going bald

It's my first podcast for 2006, released on Feb 3 but delayed by three days due to a technical hiccup.
When common people caught for trivial offences are treated like hardcore criminals, who gets heard and who gets hurt? The Court of Public Opinion decides.
Language: English
Release Date: February 3, 2006
File Size: 1.09Mb (MP3)
Duration: 03′06″
Bangkok Post quoted Sunday Star as saying the Malaysian government will investigate whether police violated the rights of 10 detainees whose heads were shaved bald after they were arrested for gambling. Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that if the officers' action was against procedures, disciplinary action should be taken against them.
Jeff on the Mike
I was Jerry Foo's guest for a CNY Special recently. The podcast is available for download here (English, m4b format, 16′56″). Jerry is a former journalist with Star In-Tech. He inspires me a lot into the finer points of podcasting.
My podcast, named Jeff on the Mike, will have a slow start as a weekend feature, which will also be RSS-enabled soon. Working with collaborators, I will attempt to incorporate WAP access/delivery, and SMS/MMS feedback from the listeners in the near future. Let me climb the learning curve for now.

The policemen hv not used discretion on this matter and are insensitive towards the chinese community on a joyous occassion such as the CNY. Moreover it is just a game to kill time and meet up amongst friends. Now we shall see what our PM is made of when he again has been put in a spot in just a short period of time after the squatgate incident. On a lighter note, tonight i managed to help the police booked a mini-terrorist who has been terrorising the neighbourhood with endless fire-crackers bombing since the beginning of CNY. I actually drove out and look for the "idiot" and told her nicely to stop as it is disturbing the peace of the neighbourhood but she told me off. Again i told her it is against the law to play fire crackers now but she was adamant and challenged me to report to the police. And so I did. I waited in front of her house for the police to arrive. 2 officers showed up in less than 5mins and questioned her. She was behaving rudely and chatting away on the handphone while the policeman was questioning her. The evidence was all over the place. She cant deny it. I didnt stay to wait for the outcome but gently reminded the police that she shld be hauled up and hv her head shaven! These are the people we shld show an example of to the rest of the mini-bombers out there!

Groo,
You party popper!!! ha ha jk :) yeah I sort of understand what you gone through, I used to bomb firecrackers too for days and days too. It's like the competition who can last the longest and the loudest :)
Damn hard for me to sleep too, cos too many fire crackers to burn tehehe but that was in the past.
Because of the stupidity of a handful of idiots who tried to "modify" their firecrackers and injure themselves, one of the fun things that many chinese people in this country grow up playing once a year was taken away from them.
Of course it is sort of a waste of money and of course playing with fire is always unsafe, but well it was fun while it lasted.
What you told the police to do to that person is like condoning what the police force in Kajang did to those 11 gambling guys.
Two wrong actions does not make it right.
Back to the shaving of those 11 old guys.
Shaving people head for gambling during CNY is totally sick lah, why didn't they shave those people who buy lottery in those 4D shops?

No Surprises :P
Remember our former number 2 person in Malaysia last time DS Anwar Ibrahim got naked by the ISA people? Even got a special punch from TS Rahim Noor? He was a PDRM captain! I wonder if DS Anwar Ibrahim was number 2, then what is the number for those old men?

Will our police ever be respected? If people don't respect their police force, won't policing be more and more difficult? I think we have seen many cases of how NOT to gain citizen's respect.
Nude squats and head shaving? Are our police just bored?
They keep saying its standard procedure, then is it not high time police procedure be reviewed?
Our police (like any police) have a tough job, I want to be able to respect them, and not in fear that they can humiliate me and get away with it.
