Many of us only knew about the Wiley Miller’s cartoon in the NST after we read Jeff's blog, as we do not buy nor read the NST, aka the party’s mouth piece just like the STAR. As things go, it turned out that many in Malaysian society also deemed the cartoon insensitive and offensive. A lot of them in fact raised much louder and noisier noise than Jeff on the issue. Subsequently NST apologized unreservedly on that. Case closed, one would have thought….

NST had lost face on that and now it seems that NST wanted to blamed Jeff for all that !! Well, well, well…Be careful, Jeff, watch out for the bully. We are fully behind you to fight against bully.

Just as expected. The Medusanisation has begun.

I think there are two issues here, which the NST's police report shows confusion on:

(1) The cartoons.
Lets not forget that it's the CARTOONS which have incited the racial disharmony. Jeff has absolutely nothing to do with this point.

(2) Treating like cases alike.
This is where Jeff Ooi comes in. What he has done is to show that, whereas NST published a cartoon, while not one of the originals, still insults Muslims (and anyone who reads the caption can hardly think it doesn't, even if NST's intention was not to incite racial disharmony), there was no official action, but when some other newspapers do so, EVEN WITH EXPLANATIONS, and with no intention of inciting any racial disharmony, they are banned from circulation.

When's the Jeff Ooi apology coming? *grin*

Did you check with them after, to see if your reaction was proportionate to NST's offense, and that the effects of what you and your fellow "soldiers" did was positive in any way?

Did you speak to anyone in journalism or an NGO, and asked if this will be a positive development in the long run, in terms of human rights and press freedom in Malaysia?

What did they say? Or were they all so happy that the NST was getting its comeuppance that they didn't think of the consequences of what they did?

Couple of days ago, NSTP said you were inciting religious hatred against it (so, therefore, NSTP equals religion?).

Now, they're saying you're inciting racial disharmony.

Well, at least the punishment for racial disharmony is not as grave as religious hatred, if you get my drift.

As the saying goes "'nst' is the best policy" -- with thanks to Kit Leee's Adoi!.

NSTP should take it on the chin like a man, and move on. And oh, I'm never buying a copy of NST ever again. All this 'yadda, yadda' is giving me the heebie-jeebies.

JEFF OOI says: In 2004, the accusation was "causing religious disharmony". Feb 22, the acusation was "personal vendetta" in cahoot with Dato' A Kadir Jasin. Feb 24, the accusation was "causing religious hatred". Feb 25, the accusation was "causing racial dishormony". When you sternly point finger at people, BIOLOGICALLY, you point with the index finger, with the thumb clamping on the other three fingers pointing back at oneself. Unless he is a BORN DEFECT, by now my ACCUSER would have run out of the normal two index fingers on both hands.

"Police To Probe blogger Jeff Ooi"!

With such a headline, even if The Police have already decided not to proceed with investigating Jeff, it would seem that the sole purpose of NST to have this as a news item which presumably nobody else carries is to push the police into action. It is like almost puting words into the mouth of the police. It is like holding the police to ransom and reminding them that the old "anwar" affair is also not over yet and basically applying pressure on Jeff to hold back. Really cheap bullying tactics being employed here.

I believe most of the Malaysians know what is right and what is wrong.

By posting such a news, it could also have been a free advertisement for jeffooi.com.

Expect higher webstat, Jeff. But at the same time we also pray that they understand your love (and not hate!) for Malaysia.

This double standard things has gone too far. If NST got away, you too should walk away free.

Not to worry Jeff. You are not alone to fight injustice. You will get all Malaysian support when this become a very big issue. You are already an international figure, not NST. Just for your info, there are A LOT of this type of people like NST in Malaysia! They bully you just to get what they want. They won't listen to you because they can't take critics. So when they are in bad position, they will involve their "superior", or may be "your superior" (sort of like taking your parent as hostage) to get your surrendar to them. If you still win, they will say you "harras" them; in fact, they harras you first! The fight will prolong and it will end when it reached the climax and the entire nation will be with you because we ALL like you.

The duty of the press is to inform and tell it as it is and regularly challenge the readers with stimulating editorial. In the past couple of decades the mainstream media have not factored the intelligence of their readers in their publication. Jeffooi.com has provided the alternative where readers like myself rely frequently for news and updates on issues affecting society. In short Jeff succeeds where the mainstream media fail. Sportsmanship is a rare commodity in Malaysia. While Jeff is standing on the podium receiving his well deserved medal, he is receiving it not only for himself but also for his readers and contributors/commentors. One more vote from me.

When the police next visit, please teach them how to use google image or yahoo image search and also get them to investigate all the caricutures/cartoons that have been posted on-line too.

This is the age of internet and yet we have people who doesn't understand the term borderless world and the advent of internet.

I agree with what vertebrato said.

Seeing in positive way, the act by NST will indirectly help expand the readership of your blog. I believe that most readers who care enough to check out your blog are mature enough to make reasonable judgments. The NST and/or those short-sighted politicians might be able to achieve their goal now, but in the long run, the truth will prevail.

Having followed your blog over the last two years, I trust your sincerity in wanting to help raise both social and political awareness in our otherwise egocentric and apolitical society.

I think your hardwork has just started to bear fruits. Hence, I sincerely hope that you will carry on the good work. Let the readers, the history be the judges.

I guess someone has pressed DEFCON 3 against you. Your soldiering has become a nuisance and a real challenge in years to come. Imagine the resources and effort to counter each of the issues brought up in this blog. They will be a major head-ache for the campaign manager. I won’t wish you good luck as someone has but you’ll see me behind you if you’re in court.

As Neo who help people to be aware of the political consciousness, the system-matrix will not tolerate such. You've helped to show me I'm not just a living battery for the system. But you need to find the Oracle and ask “Am I the One?”

Neither Jeff nor Screenshots should be penalised in any case at all. What "inciting racial harmony" may I ask the authority? I have never seen any other blog which has attracted various races to comment on it's topics. They may disagree on each other's opinion but in the end they accept it with an open heart.

Jeff for instance, is not selective on who or what his readers commenters are, be it pro or contra to his ideas.

I have been in favour of the police on the "nude ear-squat" episode. All my comments were posted and not banned by him. The same goes for this NST debacle. I supported NST because I believe there's nothing wrong with the comic strip. I even called Jeff a donkey for allowing PAS a free ride... and it got posted too.

The only thing which saddened me is the language use by some of his commentors. We are Asian, specifically Malaysians, whose values are respected by people from other countries. Lets keep it that way.

A mental paradigm shift is really what it takes for each and everyone of us to look at a particular issue instead of harping voraciously and unecessarily. Yes, racial/religious matters are deemed sensitive issues that need wise tackling in our society.

Yet, if our own 'school backyard' amongst others, influences the way we think and act, then it's really sad, I'd say. We need to be more receptive towards ideas/criticisms in order to forge ahead in this life amidst any adversities.

Please, let us all forgive and forget (for some). Learn a wise lesson from the recent caricature debacle and move on to other global / national issues. Hopefully, our e-voice could somehow make a little difference for the
benefit of all living individuals.
